When it comes to soccer simulation games, every gamer knows that you arrive at a moment where you decide: it’s either FIFA or the Pro Evolution Soccer (PES) series. Unfortunatelly for you, the PC gamer, it seems that when it comes to soccer simulation games your personal computer, PES is basically the only way to go.

I know the affirmation will drive some serious hate from the FIFA community (and maybe even little praise from the Pro Evolution Soccer fans, but we all know how frenetic gamers community can be), but it’s not like I don’t acknowledge that FIFA is a great game on the PS3 or Xbox360. It’s actually my favorite game on the PS3 (and I do pack a nasty collection), but let’s face the fact that FIFA lost its touch a while ago, and it was only obvious that another soccer series will soon emerge to take advantage of FIFA’s decline on the PC. And the Pro Evolution Soccer did just that. Again, don’t take me wrong, FIFA 10 is a good game, but nothing really new (except the graphics and some other “ornamental” content) was brought into the game for what seems to be too many years. Maybe the graphics changed into the better, but not by as much as you would expect. And this is why most of the veterans are really into PES when it comes to a PC soccer sim.

What I really want to point out that choosing PES over FIFA is a matter of personal taste. Both games seem to be equally exciting from some points of view, and both games have their flaws, but they are differently interesting. In fact, when you actually look at both the series as alternatives and not competition, this is when you start enjoying both games more. And don’t get me wrong, i will strongly encourage that you try both games and only then choose your favorite. But you should be open-minded and admit that PES 2010 was not built as an improved FIFA, but more a completely different games, yet both concentrated by certain game rules that cannot be broken.
