Download Rkill.com Free And Terminate Malicious Processes

Over the past few months we talked about a number of viruses, rogues, fake/scam antivirus solutions and other malware that each share a nasty little trait: the do not allow any legitimate anti-malware / antivirus software to run. In the removal guides for those viruses, we instructed you to download a small tool, called Rkill (or Rkill.com).

Rkill.com does not remove the malware from your computer, but it terminates the malware processes on your computer. By doing that, it allows you to run the anti-malware or antivirus software you need to remove the virus from your computer.

Rkill comes in 4 different extensions (.exe, .com, .scr, and .pif). This is because there are rogues/viruses out there that don’t allow any executable files to be run on your computer. The rkill.com extension is the one we recommend that you use when you encounter such a problem.

Created by Microsoft MVP (Most Valued Professional) Lawrence Abrams, rkill is what I would call one of the most useful tools when dealing with malware. Without it, removing rogues such as Internet Security 2010 would be a lot more difficult.

Rkill.com is completely free to download and use. Hit the download link below to get it on your computer.

Just as a side note, if the first time you run rkill.com, it does not terminate the malicious process, try double clicking on it multiple times until it is successful. Now I know that “double clicking on it until your fingers get sore” (copyright given to one of my colleagues here at softsailor.com – it was a joke) might not seem like the most scientific way of dealing with viruses, but it does get the job done, and that is what matters the most.

Note: We do not offer any illegal ways to download Rkill.com 1. On SoftSailor you will not find torrents, keygens, serial keys, rapidshare downloads, or any other illegal method to download Rkill.com 1. SoftSailor only offers a full version of Rkill.com 1 if it's freeware. Otherwise you will have to download the demo / trial or buy the full version.

  • tnanks if I can ever download it

  • looking for free download of Rkill

  • You guys say “try double clicking on it multiple times until it is successful”…But, you never tell us what type of message am I looking for that would indicate that the program was ‘successful’.

I assum that this is an important step before the MBAM, but I can’t tell if the RKILL worked or not.

Please tell us how the black window of RKILL should read after you’ve run the program.

    Thanks.

  • Now, get a whiff of this:

Processes terminated by Rkill or while it was running:

    c:\Program Files\Microsoft Works\WkDStore.exe
    c:\Program Files\Microsoft Works\wkgdcach.exe
    C:\Users\Chris\Downloads\rkill.com

What SHOULD it say if it locates that mofo, ‘Vista Internet Security 2010′ and shuts ‘er down?

Man, oh man. I jus’ wanna git ‘er done, mack. Mucho appreciado for your anticipated assistiato, muchacho.

    • You’re nuts, you list 3 processes that rkill.com gets rid of. Two of them are for Microslop WOrks and the other one is rkill itself. Why do I feel like this is deeper bs than ever?

      • The point of rkill is to shut down all instances so that your pc is free of processes, including rkill! Similar to many cell phone applications that shut down processes to save battery life, it is included in the list itself. Second, the Microsoft Works is where the virus hides and is running through that. It’s a trick the virus is using…take a step back and realize that this virus or spyware (wutever it is) is made to avoid detection by antivirus and spyware. Use the rkill and then clean with MalewareBytes program!

    • It creates a goofy log, not I’m getting frightened this is more bs. If I run it from a dos prompt is just says

      Rkill by Lawrence Abrams (Grinler)
      BleepingComp[uter.com

      Terminating known malware processes.
      Please be patient.

Is grinler the person that wrote the program We’re trying to get rid of? (av-guru.net)

  • can’t get rid of xp internet security 2010

  • Rkill is not working. Desktop Security 2010 is now immune to rkill. It worked one time to run Malware bytes. A few trojans found and removed on reboot. But 2010 was still popping up. Also, on each popup, all scans and other functions like rkill terminating known malware processes are haulted until I close the popup.
Safe mode does not refain it either. Rkill is not working even in safe mode. And using ctrl, alt, and delete, I stop the Security 2010 process but it returns constantly.
    Anyone have any other ideas?

    • Trying downloading Firefox browser, then download this program and Malwarebytes. Firefox is immune to 2010 compared to IE. That’s what I had to do to get rid of Internet Security 2010.

    • Rkill just kills the rogue process. It doesn’t get rid of the program itself. The log tells you what process it kills, go to that location and delete the executable. Then run malwarebytes. Also make sure you turn off system restore first, then when you know the system is clean, you can turn system restore back on

  • i was too late my computer just crashed due to this is there any program which will completely stop this…whats the best anti virus program we can use…

    • ESET NOD32!!!!!!!!!! Made by hackers to prevent this stuff!!!! Does not prevent against adware or spyware tho so use a simple application taht you find for free for that! Also, stay off the torrent sites. I guarentee that is where 99% of you got this!

  • why do this instead of just going into safe mode?

  • Guys? just let you end process ave.exe or av.exe in Task Manager and you will see XP Internet shit 2010 go out from tray. Then you can delete ave.exe and/or av.exe files from C:\Documents and Settings\user(example)\Local Settings\Application Data directory. After that you can run everything that you need to fix this problem? just right-click on .exe file you need and select Start or Run as…)). Or creat .reg file with

    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\.exe]
    [-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\secfile]
    [-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\secfile]
    [-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.exe\shell\open\command]

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\exefile\shell\open\command]
    @=”\”%1\” %*”

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.exe]
    @=”exefile”
    “Content Type”=”application/x-msdownload”

content and click it twice? then OK, and you will be able to run everything for free – instructions were got from http://www.myantispyware.com/2010/01/28/how-to-remove-xp-internet-security-2010-xp-guardian-antivirus-xp-2010/

  • Thank you Monk, that is what my friend told me to do. It works best if you load the files you need onto the desktop and dosconnect the PC from the internet, getting there via the start menu ‘Run…’ function in Windows XP version, (‘Search’ for Vista) and type %UserProfile%\desktop to open the desktop window that is blocked by the fake Antivirus software. Although some advice is to not reboot, start up seems to be the only time I can run FixExe whih halts the virus before it can block rkill.com but you still have to reboot before you can use rkill.com, (other versions of name changed rkill can be found when being attacked by PersonalSecurity malware on bleepingcoputer.com). It is all in the timing, and once you get rkill.com to run, do not reboot, as only then can you load anti mmalware such as Malwarebytes which is also trickey. Ref: bleepingcomputer.com

  • By loading onto the desktop window i just mean drag each item onto it, then it should show on the main desktop start up screen. Double clik on the programs a.s.a.p. and they should run before the ransomware blocks all activity. Also the ransomware creators may use forums like this to mislead.

  • The programs will only be visable on the main start up screen after a reboot.

  • The programs will only run from the main desktop screen, so you have to be quick.

  • dude.
    Thanks SO much.
That security tool thing kept popping up, this fixed it.

    • okay, i have security tool popping up like crazy. The only reason I am able to do this is because i ended task, but not everyone in my family that uses this computer know how to do that, and i am not here all day to help them with there troubles.
I downloaded the Malware program, but i cannot seem to download the Rkill program.
And yes, my computer does run in Safe Mode, but i do not think it enjoys it because every time I do it, everything moves super slow.
So can you give me step-by-step instructions of how YOU got rid of your security tool promblem, and please make it simple, because alot of the websites, say do this, but before that do that. And why didnt you just say that in the first place! Uggghhh!
      HELP PLEASE!
      REPLY SOON
With all me&my computers heart/hardware drive. thank you,
      (:NEPO!

  • Mr Lawrence Abrams, i how you a drink, and a big pat on your back, thanks to you and co, people like you have helped us fight against these scumbags, not so smart xp merchants.

  • I’m not able to connect to the internet to update spyware doctor so it can run. Any suggestions? I have this supid Security Tool virus.

  • Thanks alot bro

  • What worked for me is I downloaded rkill and malwarebytes to a network share. I renamed the malwarebytes executable to some garbage name and I renamed rkill.com to something like ljkfsdj.exe I then copied them to the hard drive. the malware looks for the rkill.com and mbamxxx.exe files and will prevent execution. You trick the malware by renaming them. I then ran rkill as ljkfsdj.exe as an admin. This stopped the processes. Then the updated malwarebytes ran as an admin took care of the rest.

  • yeah i did what goz said an it worked i think !!cheers mate when downloading i clicked save instead of run on both and named rkill eggs and mbytes beans and it worked lol

  • Well Folks, It worked fine for me. I guess you have to read the Instructions and follow them accordingly. Thanks Guys, Great Job on this Software.

  • Worked fantastic for me ! I had to save the download to a a flash drive from another pc along with “malwarebytes” followed the instructions to the letter and it killed it 168 processes infected !

  • thank you so much this worked wonders I thought I was gonna have to wipe my pc clean to get rid of this damn thing, but this fixed in 5 seconds. Once again thank you

  • hello can anyone help me. ive got security tool on my computer. ive scanned with spyware doctor in safe mode and it removed it but when i started windows again it was still on my computer. scanned in normal mode and it found the virus and said it removed it but its still there. PLEASE HELP!!!

  • Try downloanding and runninbg ComboFix.

  • Thank you, thank you, thank you for this info. Used rkill and malwarebyte to get rid of Antivirus 7.

  • Holy crap, this destroyed that stupid malware crap. Its program ran to into the computer like a soldier in the army and destroyed all of the malware process thanks so much rkill!

  • If your having problems getting this to work just download firefox browser. If the virus is blocking internet access you may have to make the firefox download page your homepage in order to get to the page. (thats what I had to do) then go to the malwarebytes download page using firefox browser and download and get rid of the virus. Most viruses are geared toward the IE browser and don’t effect firefox and others non-microsoft browsers.

this is the second time i have had to reinstall windows xp and completley reboot my laptop. these virus pop up like nobody’s buisness , what is the best way to help prevent this from happening again? preventing viruses such as sytem tool, security 2010 from attaching? i want a good answer not a step by step guide to the unknown!

  • I wonder if I did things right? I downloaded rkill and it kept telling me it had found something–but the malicous sigel kept telling me I needed to download it.

I managed to download MalwareBytes and I ran it, and if found 10 problems–it handled them and I restarted my computer, and I still have the sigel from the virus

  • Worked great, but when i rebooted it came back so i used it again and it worked. I’m gonna activate antivirus from norton i hope that will keep it away.

  • Removed security tool using malware. On reboot its back….Wheres it hiding? Help!!!

  • Okay, listen up!
    1. If you cannot download rkill, or you cannot use the internet to update antivirus software, etc. Restart your computer in safe mode with networking. (Hold f5 when the computer starts up and select “Safe mode with networking”. If your internet is still not working, the virus most likely changed your proxy settings. Turn off your proxy. (In internet explorer this is: Tools, Internet Options, “connections” tab, LAN Settings, deselect “Use a proxy server…

    2. (Back in normal mode, once you notice that the virus is acting up) Use rkill. If rkill is getting blocked by the virus, click on rkill multiple times quickly (like click really fast) until about 4 (you might need more) rkill screens come up. Rkill should work eventually. (if it doesn’t, click on it more)

    3. Look at the log files that rkill makes, it normally kills itself and possibly some other legitimate programs (for me it killed my dropbox), but no worries! It should also have blocked the virus. Go to windows explorer and navigate to any files (that you don’t know and trust) that it blocked. Scan these files with an antivirus (I used malwarebytes anti malware) and remove the threats if your antivirus tells you it is malicious.

(Using this method I could delete the oh so annoying Antivir System Pro)

    • Thanks Paul! That worked perfectly!

    • Yes if you’re very frustrated because it keeps closing rkill PLEASE TRY THIS, I had to click more like 50 times before it worked, youre computer will most likely go blank and freak out for a sec but it works!

  • ive got this wireshark on my computer, downloaded rkill and it says it has been terminated..2 minutes later wireshark pops back up, i even turned computer off restarted it? am i doing something wrong?? wireshark is blocking me from everything, idk what to do.

Iv tried to disble the mcafee anti virus firwall on both the mcafee and the windows firewll and still not downloading, ANY HELP PLEASE!

  • %User%\AppData\Local\[random characters ]\[random characters]tssd.exe

Thats how the virus used to be listed in the system. Now its mutated and is labeled with a folder of just random letters ie. xhfgbkxsdgf

All I had to do was go C:\Windows\Users\(insert your user name here)\AppData\Local look for the random letter folder delete it run malware bites and CC Cleaner and problem solved.

  • I just want to get rid of my security shield on my damn computer….Any help for removing this. I want to remove it as it pops up all the time and its a buggar when you’re trying to surf the net.
