With thousands of pixels on a typical TFT screen there’s always a chance some might not work right!
A typical TFT monitor running at 1024×768 resolution has thousands of pixels, and each one of those pixels is composed of three cells of different colors – one each for red, green and blue – which amounts to roughly 2.4 million cells on this very common screen resolution (1024×768x 3 = 2,359,296).
From those millions of cells, there is only a small chance all of them will work perfectly. In fact it is very common to have stuck stuck on pixels (creating a “bright” defect) or stuck off pixels (resulting in a “dark” defect). Dead Pixel Tester is a software written specifically to allow the detection of dead or defective pixels.
Dead Pixel Tester allows you to check the pixels on your LCD/TFT monitor by cycling through the three primary colors used (red, green, blue) as well as all on (white) and all off (black). All you have to do is select each color and then closely inspect your monitor for dead or defective pixels. Do to their size stuck on pixels will be easier to notice than the other kinds of pixels.
