AOL 9.0 Security Edition is a collection of tools that aims to address every security related problem a user might deal with, from spam blocking to protecting personal information.

AOL 9.0 Security Edition integrates the McAfee VirusScan Online tool that will perform regular scans on your computer for viruses and remove any infected file. All the images sent by emails attachments will be scanned so the virus can be detected before it can do any damage to your computer. Your ports will be safe from any incoming and outgoing attacks that you might encounter using the firewall module. The AOL Parental Controls allow you to limit the way your children use the internet up to any detail you want. You can make lists of allowed email addresses or IM IDs they can communicate with, block file sharing services, limit the amount of time spent on the internet or block inappropriate content or even block all internet access. Your own traces made while surfing (cookies, temp files, etc) can be deleted using the “Clear My Footprints” feature.

AOL’s “My Money” alerts will notify users when any transaction will exceed the limit set for their credit card or bank account. These alerts will be instantly delivered so that any fraudulent use can be detected as fast as possible. You can also choose to receive these alerts to your mobile device.

If you have any problems with your computer’s performance with the AOL service or any other program, you can use the AOL Computer Check-Up that will detect any problems your computer have and fix it automatically. In addition, your own internet surfing will be accelerated using the AOL’s TopSped Technology.

All these options are loaded faster than you would expect. This is because when your computer starts, the AOL components are preloaded so they can be called using a single click. If you close AOL it will remain preloaded in the background so that it will not clog up the interface but always remain “on call”.
