HydraIRC is an Internet Relay Chat (IRC) client that comes as an alternative for mIRC and other already highly popular clients. It is one of the few clients that have been built from the ground, without any mIRC implementations.

Using this client, you can basically chat with millions of users from around the world. You can connect to an unlimited number of servers and if any connection is lost, it will be automatically refreshed.

You can set nicknames for each one of the servers you are connecting to. This way you can be “lov3m3t3nder:x” when talking to someone close and “JamesWilson” when chatting in a formal way, both at the same time. Navigating through its interface is very easy thanks to the tabs and intuitive menus.

The way you chat can be fully customized, from the fonts and colors you are using to the styles (bold, italic) so that your text will be as unique as you want it. Also, transferring files using the DCC protocol is as simple as a click of a button and comes with queuing and resuming with same-file checking features.

From a technical point of view, it is a great program that uses little resources to give a multitude of features.
