Antivirus 7 (sometimes called Antivirus7) is a rogue anti-spyware (aka fake antivirus, or virus for the most of you) that uses the same principle we talked about over and over in previous removal guides: the Antivirus 7 virus will claim it is a legitimate Antivirus protection and that your computer was infected so that you buy the full version of the product. Do not buy Antivirus 7 as it is a virus itself (or a scam if you look at it that way). Instead, you should remove it from your computer using the removal guide below.

If you are wondering how Antivirus 7 got on your computer, chances are you visited a fake online antivirus that recommended you download Antivirus 7 to protect your computer against security threats and to remove the existing viruses on your computer. If this was not the case, chances are the Antivirus 7 virus got on your computer the “classical” way, via infected codecs or flash updates.

How To Remove Antivirus 7 Virus

Once the Antivirus 7 virus gets on your computer, it will be automatically programmed to start each time Windows starts. Just like with all the other rogue anti-spyware out there, it will start a fake scan of your computer. Conveniently enough, the scan report will show that Antivirus 7 detected a number of viruses on your computer. When you try to remove the viruses it detected, you will find out that you have to buy Antivirus 7 before you can remove them. Like stated above, do not buy Antivirus 7! It is a virus, and you should remove it using the guide below.

You should also be aware that the Antivirus 7 virus will also display a number of fake security warnings on the desktop. These fake warnings state that identity theft was attempted, that you should install some critical updates, etc.

Note that the Antivirus 7 virus might change the way your computer behaves. If you noticed something is not going as it should be, chances are the Antivirus 7 virus is to blame for that.

How To Remove The Antivirus 7 Virus

You should print out these instructions as you will be required to close all open windows during the Antivirus 7 virus removal process. In addition, you will be required to download some programs from the web. If the Antivirus 7 virus blocks out any downloads, you should download the programs you need from another computer and then transfer them to the infected one using a CD/DVD or an USB stick.

1. Go to our page here and download rkill.com. Then use the instructions in that page to end the Antivirus 7 process. This is very important as you will not be able to remove Antivirus 7 if you have not ended the process.

2. Go to our Malwarebytes Anti-Malware download page and download MBAM on your desktop (if you cannot download stuff on your computer, transfer the setup from the USB stick or CD/DVD to the desktop). It might be a good idea to rename the setup. Just rename it to something like “123fun.exe” or “keyboard.exe” or anything generic enough.

3. Close all open windows and applications then run the setup. During the install process, proceed with the standard installation and do not change any of the settings (this is very important if you are not an experienced user in removing viruses or setting up antivirus software).

4. Launch MBAM, go to the main scanner screen, select the “Perform Full Scan” radio button and then click the “Scan” button below. Now you should wait a little, since the scan process does take some while to complete.

5. When MBAM has finished scanning your computer for malware, press the “Show Results” button, select all detected malware and click the “remove selected” button.

You now should have successfully removed the Antivirus 7 virus from your computer, as well as any related files.

  • I have run the MBAM Scan twice and no infected viruses have been found. What else can I do to get rid of this?

  • I have done all of the above however i dont think the rkill.com is working correctly as it just flashes a dos screen up for around half a second then disappears. also i can only run the programs in safe mode.

    any ideas??

    • It does work, and you HAVE to be in safe mode otherwise this thing will not be able to open. Thats what the rkill does, when its flashing the dos screen it it attempting to to close it down. You may have to do this 30 times, and is the best way so you are not losing all precious hard work and data.

  • To all those who are experiencing problems with antivirus 7, the easiest way to get rid of it (although u will lose some data)is to

    1.First click control pannel

2.Then system and maintenance-Back up your computer

3.Then restore files, where u restore your pc to previous date. Simple and efficient

  • josh is absolutely correct, that is how i have fixed this problem 3 different times.

  • I am running windows xp and i am trying to rid my computer of antivirus 7 HELP

  • I removed Antivirus7 by clicking start then run. when it opens type msconfig then click ok when it opens scroll down to av7 uncheck it then close and gfo to C:\ program files and delete av7 then empty recycle bin

    • this was by far the best and easiest way to get rid of this thing, in windows 7 or vista, follow his directions, after typing in msconfig, go to the tab that says Startup, most likely scroll all the way down and unclick whichever is inside the Program Files\AV7.0 folder because it wasnt named av7.exe but rather labeled unknown, unclick it, then reboot, go to that folder and delete it completely, reboot, go back into msconfig and make sure you put it back to Normal Startup in the 1st tab and voila :)

  • Why didn’t you used the support service? I tried to get in touch with support guys as the service was included in subscription but for some time all the lines were busy. I left a message on the voice mail informing about the problem and they got back with me in about 15 minutes. What I consider a big trouble appeared not so big one. In a few minutes I received instruction how to reinstall and how to activate Antivirus 7 on my computer and it seemed working properly since then. Nevertheless, I’d prefer faster respond from those guys…
