Windows 7 is just around the corner and it is good to know that the new addition to Microsoft’s line of famous operating systems has a lot of new personalization features that are just waiting to be discovered. While most of them are unknown to the regular user they are very useful and not that hard to apply.
In this article you will be learning how to hide empty drives.
Users of Vista and XP know that the operating system assigns each drive a letter even if these drives are empty. In Windows 7 empty driver are automatically hidden, being the default setting after a new installation. To check if any drives are empty or not you must do the following.
Press [Windows] key to display the Start menu, in the search field type “Folder Options” and validate by pressing the [Enter] key. Open the View tab, then, in the options list, locate the line “Hide empty drives in the computer”. If the box is checked, readers will no longer appear empty in the explorer. If the box is unchecked, Windows 7 will behave like XP and Vista and will show all drives.
This is it, if you need further help just post a comment here or on our forums.
