How to move files to another location after download is complete in µTorrent
June 26th, 2009
How many times did you have troubles with files downloaded from torrents? You download them in one location, but you need to move them somewhere else. You have to move them, but you don’t have enough ratio so you just leave them there. Well, your problem is solver if your torrent applications is µTorrent.
How to move files to another location after download is complete in µTorrent:
- Open µTorrent.
- Stop the completed torrent.
- Go to the files location, and move the files where you want. If there multiple files, then move the whole folder to your chosen location.
- Go to µTorrent, then on your torrents list right click on the file that you just moved, then go to Advanced, and then Set Download Location… and browse the location where you moved the files.
- Start the torrent.
Now µTorrent will check the file, and then it will start seeding again, and you will be able to boost your ratio.

These instructions did not work for me.
When I completed Step 5, the file went to 0% done and started downloading again. It was not seeding but downloading it all over again.
u idiot
I wish µTorrent would just add a “move file” feature… maybe it’s a programming nightmare, but it would make life sooo much easier. here’s another method that’s a little more technical, but a LOT less tedious if you have large numbers of torrents. http://filesharefreak.com/2008/11/02/utorrent-move-all-your-downloaded-files-keep-seeding/
i have utorrent 0.9.1.2 on mac and when i right click on a torrent there is no advanced option, or set download location,
