How to remove Windows Police Pro Virus / Windows Police Pro Virus Removal
Windows Police Pro is another rogue application, just like the Green AV 2009 that tries to fake users and make them to purchase the application. When you visit some infected websites, you are warned by some virus infections and recommended to install Windows Police Pro to get rid of them. Unfortunately, Windows Police Pro is just another virus intended only to get your money and probably get you infected with other viruses.
Don’t scare if you see some virus scan results in your browser, because no website can scan your computer without your approval, so it can’t know if you are infected with a virus. Also be very careful what you download and what pages you visit so you don’t get infected. Another good tip is to always keep your browser up to date and to use a safe one like Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome or Apple Safari.
Here is how to get rid of the Windows Police Pro Virus:
How to stop the Windows Police Pro Virus Process
Press Start + R, type “taskmgr” and press enter. Then find Windows Police Pro.exe, select it and press “End Process”.
How to remove Windows Police Pro Virus Registry entries
Press Start + R, type “regedit” and press enter. Find the “HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Windows Police Pro
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Windows Police Pro” key and delete it. Be careful not to delete other keys.
How to remove Windows Police Pro Virus Files
Find and delete the following files:
C:\Program Files\Windows Police Pro\
C:\Program Files\Windows Police Pro\Windows Police Pro.exe
C:\Program Files\Windows Police Pro\tmp\dbsinit.exe

This tutorial helped a lot! Thank you!
Hello:
I followed your instruction to remove Windows Police PRO in TaskMgr, but it comes back again automatically. When I was trying to run REGEDIT, I got got run time error to prevent me from running this program. I even tried to run regedit.exe in Windows Safe Mode, I still had no luck.
Did I miss anything?
Please help!!!
thank you very much.
Xin Wang
Xin,
I was able to remove it by deleting the Windows Police Pro program files first (go to the task manager and end all processes, and quickly drag the file into the recycle bin before the Police Pro pops up again and prevents you from deleting the file).
Then I went into the regedit to delete the remains. Hope that helps!
Good luck,
Amanda
THIS WAS A HUGE HELP!!!!
i deleted it but it took over some of my .exe files how do I stop this
i am having the same problem as Xin Wang, it says there’s an error when I try to get into REGEDIT, and i cant get into safe mode because it always says it cant because there was a recent hardware change or something like that.
please someone help me i got a report due for class and i cant do anything!!!!
I had a heck of a time – I tried all sorts of stuff but kept getting errors. I finally resorted to a System Restore (Windows XP-home) and it has worked – so far!
wtf, how come when i went to delete the registry entries, they weren’t there?
now i cant open any file, it always asks me which program i want to open the file with. and when i try to use control panel i get: C:\WINDOWS\system32\rundll32.exe APPLICATION NOT FOUND
I have removed all the files related to windows police pro, all the registry keys but nothing helped, the same problem, it does not allow to open any files, the control panel does not open for me too
Thank you so much. I was able to remove Windows Police Pro. This virus was a pain. Thank you for the information.
I recommend rebooting in safemode so it doesn’t overtake your running .exe’s–that may prevent the registry edit from even working.
Thx for the write up!
Using mbam software can remove Windows Police Pro, get the program and follow this procedure.
http://www.precisesecurity.com/rogue/windows-police-pro/
Thanks very much for the help. Windows Police Pro was the worst virus I’d ever had.
Thanks Amanda
Your suggestions worked.. I stopped Windows Police Pro and the svhost in the taskmgr and quickly remove the programs. Regedit to finish up. I am surprise Norton 2009 didn’t detect and stop this program. Is Norton 2009 behind in updates ?
Hi, newbie here… having trouble with windows police pro. have removed any traces i can find through my computer but cant run regedit, or any other programmes for that matter. one exception is internet explorer will work which is strange since i manually deleted entire internet explorer directory in case trojan had embeeded itself in it. (i never use ie anymore) any other program i try to run flashes up a blank black window with the c:\ address in the title bar and closes itself almost before you have time to read it… any help very much appreciated…
hey, ColinFromIreland-
I was having the SAME exact problems. I just fixed my laptop now. Use this website and follow the instructions.
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/virus-removal/remove-windows-police-pro
Malwarebytes totally works. gl!
Hello everyone, I found a way to delete. First open your Task manager (Ctrl+Alt+Delete) go to “Processes” click on “Show processes from all users, then end process “svchast.exe”, then end process of “windows police pro” after that you to your “Programs Files” and Delete the folder “Windows Police Pro” and thats it, hope it helps, if not contact me
This will work:
http://www.geekpolice.net/malware-removal-guides-f12/remove-windows-police-pro-removal-guide-t13546.htm
You have to end an extra process.
Thanks everyone. I had to use a combination of your suggestions because the virus kept stopping me. I finally got through using Beto the Ant Parra’s suggestion then followed it up using the instructions. Good luck everybody.
Oh my gosh, I think this actually worked. I can’t believe it was this easy. Note: the virus wasn’t letting me open ANYTHING, so I ran spybot search & destroy before and after reboot to prevent the program from opening, so that i could delete the files. Not sure if this helped or not, but something for other people to try if they have trouble disabling the program in order to delete it. (not to mention the fact that it found like 40 other spyware viruses that I had no idea I had… yeeesh!)
What a nasty program. I’ve tried many of the above listed solutions but can’t get rid of the virus. None of the executable files for mbam or other antispyware will activate so I can’t “run” anything. Buying antispyware seems counter-productive since I can’t even load it on my computer…
I also don’t seem to have the virus folder in my program files but instead its in my taskbar???
Any suggestions?
I too, followed Beto the Ant Parro’s suggestion and found some success. The pop-ups have stopped and I can run other programs but I get error messages BEFORE the program activates. Muchas Gracias!
Help. I deleted the windows police files as described,,,, but now when i start up the computer, there are 18″desote” error files that all have to do with .exe files.
I tried going into a system restore file but it doesnt seem to help…. please respond??
First DISCONNECT FROM THE INTERNET because while you do all this you are wide open!!! You will find yourself deleting this virus and get all happy and end up catching Win Antivirus Pro or some other virus immediately.
Hit Ctrl+Alt+Del to open the task manager. Use the task manager to stop the processes. There may be one or up to 3 or 4 running. Open “My Computer” Go to C: Program Files and make sure the virus is not there as a program, if so delete it.
C:\Program Files\Windows Police Pro\Windows Police Pro.exe
C:\Program Files\Windows Police Pro\tmp\dbsinit.exe
Then go to C:\Windows>Regedit and rename it regedit.com then run it (only if you’re having problems running regedit normally). The virus stops you from opening executable apps (programs) but not from opening other types of files. The virus will only stop files with .exe extensions from opening, so renaming apps will trick it and allow them to run.
Run the registry editor and delete the reg entries listed:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run “Windows Police PRO”
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Windows Police PRO
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Windows Police PRO
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Windows Police PRO
Find and delete other Windows Police PRO files:
%System Root%\Samples
%User Profile%\Local Settings\Temp
%Program Files%\Windows Police PRO
%Program Files%\LabelCommand
%Documents and Settings%\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Windows Police PRO
%Documents and Settings%\All Users\Application Data\Windows Police PRO
Get Malwarebytes on a disc and load it. You will need to borrow it from someone or have a friend burn it on a disc for you.
Get it here:
http://thepiratebay.org/torrent/5041527/Malwarebytes.Anti-Malware.v1.40%5BSoftware%5D-Jafiliya
Or BUY IT from Malwarebytes: http://www.malwarebytes.org/
When the virus gives you the dialogue box asking which program you want to use to open it, choose internet explorer. You get a box asking Run or Save. Choose SAVE. Then save it as “malwarebytes.com” and as “all types of files” option NOT Application. Then find where you saved it and run it and it will install normally and sweep your computer. THIS REALLY WORKS, I did this last night to my nephew’s comp. After it scans and deletes the virus files, you will be able to open programs again. Re-install malwarebytes normally so it sets up as an .exe and can open normally each time you boot.
Once you are clean, I recommend using BitDefender Total Security from now on for your active protection. It’s ranked number one by a few consumer software sites, it’s aggressive as hell and I switched to BDef from Kaspersky.
I can’t even get into my task manager!!!!
I had trouble running applications. Trick is to boot into safe mode with command prompt. Once there, run Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware. Worked like a charm.
I am a freelance programmer, and my wife recently got infected with Windows Police Pro. Over the last few days, I have been writing a removal tool and it is now ready for download. The page has instructions for the program usage as well as manual removal instructions. My wife’s computer is now 100% spyware and virus free! So head on over to my site and get the program. If it works for you and you’re feeling generous, I put up a couple donation links on the page. Donations for the program are appreciated but NOT required to download and use the program. I just hope this program can help more people than just me and my wife!

The site is http://freegames.blogsite.org/winppfix.html
Good luck everyone!
*tear* God Bless you and your generosity! I had the police virus and another site showed me how to manually get rid of it, but I couldn’t open any programs on my desktop. Thanks to your program, they work just fine now!
I did not know I had this police virus until I turned on my laptop for the first time in MONTHS b/c I was afraid I would have to pay HUGE Best Buy/ Geek Squad bills to clean this unknown problem/virus up. Thanks to a few searches for the police virus, I came upon this website and your post. Yay!
I did the trick of renaming regedit to regedit.com, and was able to open the window. However, when I try to delete the reg entries, I get a message that says error in deleting key. I have tried several times…Has anyone else found a way around it?
I cannot do any of the following either:
-end task
-reboot in safe mode
this did not work for me. It says that theres an error. and its with all the stuff i have on here. i cant even get on the internet. it says that all my programs are infected. PLZ HELP!!!!
After many tries, i give up. Dosote.exe changes your exefile key to only load it. I can’t figure out what the vista key is supposed to say. Malwarebytes’ didn’t fix it. Just came back again. Gonna have to do a system restore… bastards should be shot.
i downloaded Anti-malware, which i think got rid of windows police pro but i still can’t run some of my programs and i can’t open my add/remove applications, anyone have an idea how to fix it?
I have the police pro virus and it’s driving me nuts! I can’t even start my computer in safe mode. It bombs me out to the blue screen when I try. It hides in my “task manager” as well. I find and end process oh svchast.exe and then try to remove the program files, or reg key edit, it boots me. I was finally able to get on the internet and download malwarebytes, but as soon as it detects the bug, it boots me again. Arg!!! I am so pissed that someone could invent something so frustrating on fellow computer users.
OMFG!!!!!! This freking Police Pro is so annoying!!! Whenever I start my computer a ton ofpopups come out saying error! Then the Windows Police Pro comes out and trys making me buy it or whatever! I tried doing the regedit thing but it didnt work. It wont let me run anything!! The task manager thing doesnt work either! It just comes back every time! I have Ccleaner and that doesnt work.. I also did the macafee security scan and it didnt work… ARGH!!!! HELP
I tried a TON of different ways to get rid of this stupid virus! The program Steve posted totally worked! Because of that “desote” crap running, when I first tried to run it, it gave me an error message, but I kept clicking on OK like his site says and after a couple clicks the program started. It only took about a minute and I am RID of Windows Police Pro! Steve, if you see this, I want you to know you’re AWESOME and I’ll be sending a donation shortly! THANKS A MILLION BUDDY!
Everyone else, you HAVE to go to http://freegames.blogsite.org/winppfix.html and get Steve’s program! IT WORKS GREAT!
Cheers for Steve..I also ran Steve’s program, selected “quick scan”, repeatedly clicked on “OK” for the error messages, and when it finished, I rebooted, and the virus was gone. I did notice “svchasts.exe” was still a process that was running in task manager, so I stopped it. I also found the police pro folders on my programs directory, and deleted them, although I think they were empty. Since my PC was a mess, I did download Steves program from my laptop to a USB drive, then brought up my infected desktop in safe mode and ran Steve’s program. What a life saver. I had a bunch of photography and web site design work in progess on my desktop that I thought I would lose. Thanks again Steve. Donation coming soon.
Steve’s program worked for me! I its only been a few minutes but everything seems fine.. I will update in 24 hours or so.
Was really frustrated trying to get this off a computer. Finally I found a site which actually worked like a charm – http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/virus-removal/remove-windows-police-pro
hi all, still having problems. wpp is still fully functional despite the fact that i have manually removed windows police pro directory, ended windows police pro processes. finding and deleteing desote.exe in win32 directory has helped somewhat, i can now start .exe files where i couldnt previously but before they run the “OPEN WITH” window opens up asking what application to use. This is preventing me from running steves software (http://freegames.blogsite.org/winppfix.html) Before all that would happen was a black (dos?) window would flash open briefly. Also regedit wont work for the same reason… have i deleted something i shouldnt have? any ideas??
This is to Colin from Ireland
I will post some registry files on the site once I get in from work that should fix your registry so you can run exe files again.
I am having the exact same problem as colin from Ireland. I found the desote.exe file and was able to get rid of it and all the Windows Police Pro files. I was never able to get into my registry to edit anything. Every time I try to install malware bytes or Steve’s program I get a prompt to choose what to run it with. I am stuck.
Also, since I couldn’t get into my registry to edit it, I tried renaming the file a couple of times to try and get around the program, which did not work. So now I have ‘regedit’ ‘regedit.com’ and ‘regedit.doc’ or something – (I know, I’m stupid) – can I deleted those renamed files? I am afraid to do anything else.
Oh – it also infected my laptop and wiped out the entire desktop. I was able to run it from task manager but now I can’t really do anything. I can’t get into Safe Mode on that one because I get a blue screen with a message about the possiblity of being infected with a virus. DUH.
Thanks to anyone who can help me with either of these issues. This thing is really pissing me off!
Another one bites the dust. Danke.
p.s. on the comp I’m working, it looks as if it’s coming in through the ASK toolbar. nix the IE, and replace it, no more problems, after you kill the ware itself.
i used steve’s program , but my computer wont load my files in regular mode, i have to run it in safe mode to get to my files. when i try to boot up in normal mode, non of the files load on the desktop, its just shows a blank desktop. however it did get rid of the virus, and i can open files again in safe mode. BUT HOW DO I GET MY COMPUTER TO BOOT REGULARLY AGAIN.
I’ve seen lots of fixes, but they all depend on accessing Task Manager, RegEdit, and/or saving stuff to the desktop. My problem is that I CAN’T get to the desktop–it thinks for awhile, throws up fake warnings, thinks some more, repeats. There’s no desktop beyond the wallpaper image, there’s no start menu or task bar.
I also can’t get into Safe Mode–it does the line-by-line boot and when it gets to the driver MountMgr.sys it bluescreens.
So far, it looks like all I can do is Recovery Console from the XP CD. Is there something I can do from there–access/delete the problem files, create a boot CD with some malware removal, whuh?
Here is a step by step guide on how to remove windows police pro.
http://www.ehow.com/how_5406390_remove-police-pro-virus-computer.html
The problem with that fix is the same as the rest–it requires getting to your desktop. My desktop never loads, so I can’t do anything on it.
I to was infected with windows police pro and used Steve’s removal and so far so
good. Expect a nice donation Steve thanks
Jewel
What a #%#*&!!! nightmare!
It took me half a day but I finally got rid of Win Police Pro thanks to the instructions and follow up comments I found here and Steve’s program. I’m a working cowboy and no computer expert–a major reboot for me is to unplug my ‘puter wait five minutes and then plug it back in! Essentially I was able to cripple the malware enough manually to allow me to download Steve’s programs, which cleaned the rest up. After much trial and error and hair pulling this is what eventually worked for me:
Open taskmgr (ctrl+alt+delete) and leave it open and located for quick access. The malware continues to reboot the file “Windows Police Pro.exe” within several seconds after having been deleted with taskmgr. When it’s running it blocks you from getting to your registry or program files. You have to sneak past it! Follow the instructions posted elsewhere on this topic for deleting the Win Police Pro files and registry entries. If you find yourself being blocked for whatever reason quickly check tskmanager and see if Windows Police Pro.exe is again running. If it is, “end process” it like before and than QUICKLY go back to finding and deleting the malware files. You may have to go back and forth to tskmanager a dozen times before you are able to remove all the malware files.
After I removed the malware I had the same problem as others with the desote error messages when I started up my computer. I also discovered that a pop up again appeared when I opened Internet Explorer and it froze the browser. However, I was able to successfully open up and run an alternate browser, Opera. Using the alternate browser I downloaded Steve’s fixes. I ran ‘em and they appear to have cleaned out any remains of the malware that I couldn’t find. Thanks Steve–I’m duly beholdin’ to ya sir!
Read everyone’s comments & decided that Steve’s removal program would be my best best. IT WORKED!! Thank you Steve, you’re a God send. Not too familiar with all this but had to run the RegFix.bat first b/c my .exe files wouldn’t run. Then ran Method 1. Never really saw what was happening b/c the stupid desote.exe msg was permanently stuck in the middle of the screen, but when it finally disappeared all was good in the world. G/L I wish nothing but bad luck on the creators of this demon virus.
so I have figured out what is your problem I believe with the programs you all have opening. I have just gotten rid of this program I believe. well, I am on a mac and the other computer is right beside me scanning with McAFee right now.
1. For those who cant seem to cancel it from coming back after you close the process, go into task manager. I only had two processes running with links to this I am aware of.
–svchast.exe
–windows Police Pro.exe
When I went through and ended those processes, I did in that order, I am not cure what they do but you have to be quick and do them both before it can come back. I am pretty sure they are intertwined and there is a short lag which you have before it comes back. then once you have disabled the actual program, find a trustworthy anti-virus software to use. I am using McAfee and it found something already.
2.If you are having problems with any .exe being blocked, here is a link to a file you can download and open to solve that problem. It is a registry fix.
http://www.zshare.net/download/65673082ffad357b/
I uploaded it so I guarantee no virus…well, you cant ever guarantee that but it should work. Good luck everyone.
WPP is freaking frustrating! It changed my computer so I can’t run .exe files and changed it so i”m no longer an administrator meaning I can’t edit my registry or run msconfig.exe so I can start in safe mode. My internet doesn’t work and my USB doesn’t work so I can’t download files on another computer then transfer them to my infected computer on a USB storage drive.
I’m not sure what to do at this point!
If I erase my hard drive and reinstall all Windows and all of my software will that kill WPP? I have everything backed up so I wouldn’t lose everything, but it would take a long time.
Any help is appreciated!
This really got on my nerves but the posting here helped! The was able to identify the folders and then move them to trash. One problem was the main folder would not move saying that I couldn’t delete a folder being used by someone else. So I opened the folder and deleted the files.
I’m scanning again to see if anything pops up but when I restarted my computer, it did it without all that WWP crap! I could never find anything in the registry to delete.. GOTTA be quick though! LOL
THanks for all the help!
@Xin Wang
What I did was I deleted the dynamic-link-library files (.dll) first and this will make it so that it won’t start up when you end the process. I then ended svchast.exe an Windows Police Pro.exe and then I deleted C:\Windows\svchast.exe and C:\Program Files\Windows Police Pro\ directory.
@Todd
I went to the run option in the start menu and typed command.com so that it’s not a .exe file and then i can just type “regedit” in the command prompt that pops up and it opens regedit even though WPP won’t let you do it straight from the run option.
I NEED HELP I shut off my computer and tried to reboot logo goes up loads vista says welcome then goes to a black screen and reboots. WHAT should i do i have hirens boot cd and tried to use recovery tools and got on to the desktop. I scan with SuperAntiSpyware and then shut down and later i tried booting again and the same problem shows windows logo and sound but then goes black and reboots. I NEED HELP ASAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i used a loooot of tips here, the following is what i did, and i too had the virus full blown for two days, i deleted it today. for starters once the computer is on, do the alt ctrl del. end process of Windows Police Pro, and schvast, however like many of you know it will obviously pop up again, so as soon as you can open my computer, go to program files and delete the Windows Police Pro folder, if it doesnt let you, open the folder and delete EVERYTHING thats in the folder, this will help LOOOOOADS, but your not on the clear just yet.
oh, obviously empty the recycle bin, then, ull notice u still wont be able to open the internet (the stuff is still there, but WPP wont pop up annoyingly) you will be completely able to open the anti virus, and do it. depending on which anti virus you have, mine has an option that deletes all internet files, like history and what not, if you have that, do THAT, THEEEN, ull be able to open the internet… now the final thing i did, opened internet explorer, goggled malwarebytes, downloaded THAT, and scaned my comp, and that did the trick, my computer is just fine.
the thing is, its possible guys, check in forums, think it out, but hey its absolutely possible to rid this @$$hole virus
Omg thanks Steve for this program that allowed me to run .exe files. I was able to run malware bytes and its scanning as I type. Hopefully mbytes works for me. I’d leave a donation but I’m only 15,sorry.
I unknowingly downloaded this virus yesterday.. I am so upset with myself for being so stupid. Our computer has not had Antivirus Software for about a month. Our Norton anti-virus expired and since we didn’t care too much for it we chose not to renew it. Yesterday after downloading this virus I ran AVG Anti-virus and am not sure if maybe this wiped out the Police Pro Virus. When following the instructions listed above
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
How to remove Windows Police Pro Virus Registry entries
Press Start + R, type “regedit” and press enter. Find the “HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Windows Police Pro
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Windows Police Pro” key and delete it. Be careful not to delete other keys.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I noticed that the HKEY_CURRENT_USER and the other HKET_LOCAL_MACHINE neither of these had Police Pro in the default section to delete the virus.
Can you tell me if the virus could have been removed by the AVG that I installed yesterday? I want to be sure that my computer is free of this virus.. Thank you!
Frustrating – Only time I ever got suckered into malware was on this. Been fighting the program all day. Deleted all the files (svchast, Windows Police, etc), did the reg edit. Thing STILL is on the computer. For one, it keeps popping up the “USB Detection” and it won’t let me run a complete quick scan onwbam. It will get about 6 seconds into the scan, then the malwarebytes will instantly shut down and I will not be able to use that installed copy of the softare. I can re-install it, but the same problem persists. I tried running steve’s software but that will not load. I tried his regfix but it can not find my regedit.exe (which is clearly there, and which I’m able to access) His registry enable doesn’t offer and solution either. I’ve tried renaming steves file and still have had no luck. . .
STEVE YOU ARE THE MAN. I was so frustrated with this thing, but all of your tools and programs worked beautifully. I will be donating you very soon, i have a midterm paper due tomorrow, and you may have saved my college career. cheers!!
i did everything and pp is gone but when i try to open a program it says that its not a valid win32 file
I have been following the progress of the program Steve posted on his site, and it seems to be coming along nicely! I got this virus and could not get rid of it, but Steve’s WinPPFix program did the trick! Expect a nice donation soon, Steve! You’re AWESOME!
Everyone with this problem should go to http://freegames.blogsite.org and download Steve’s program. It worked for me!!!
Thanks alot that helped
Just follow the the steps and do them fast. I should work. THX for the tips.
HOW DO I GET MY INTERNET UP IT WONT LET ME search for acess points i click refresh on the intrnet acess point searcher and nothing happens respond ASAP PLEASE!!!! ps i deleted all the Windows Pol. Pro files except the blocked programs on the quick launch is still their and my computer wont let me set my desktop backround
I went to control panel and seached for Windows Police Renamed it then downloaded Combo Fix and ran it it found all the spy ware and root kits and now all is well. Combo fix worked for me.
I got nailed with both of those virii, started useing these “fixes” and it worked great for about a day. They come back everytime. Only way left for me to fix it is Format C.
Guys, please quit telling these people to run malwarebytes or spydoctor. most people already know this. The problem is that it causes the following on most peoples pc>> blocks regedit(so how do u delete registry keys), blocks task manager(so how do u stop rogue processes), blocks taskkill(so how do u kill pids), prevents executable files from running(all anti-virus use .exe files to work)
blocks safe-mode(possibly can get into it one time, then gives BSOD telling u hardware issue). For the guy who said he had desote files message>> do a search and delete all of them. There are two sites ive found which can help. First thing is to get .exe function back, and also to get into registry. You can get around the .exe issue in two different ways. One is to rename the antivirus executable another name, using a .bat extension. ie; mbam.exe >>> malb.bat
This works sometimes. There are a couple of websites that have registry scripts that will allow u to reset executable functions, and also to restore task manager, and also script to allow regedit to function. you will have to google it, and just read each link, till u find the one im talkng about. its probably on the first page of links. Also to get taskmgr to work ,is to copy from another pc and rename it before pasting it to infected pc.
One thing i did find is that if u can get all the info u need first, then go into safemode that one and only time, then u can defeat this bugger.
since any antivus will not work, if u already have it installed, i would concentrate on getting that script for the .exe files.
have a copy of malwarbytes on a jump drive with it.
plug in jump drive, run the exe script, then install malwarebyes, making sure u dont waste time with updating it. then run malwarbyes. after youve done the first pass. delete all the bad stuff, then try updating the definitions. then run the program again.
i found that sometimes you only had a matter of time before the rogue spyware would block the executables again.
another trick i found was to create a new user. This will give u functionality on some things, but again, its almost time limited. After a few minutes, that profile will exhibit the same symptoms.
Actually, if i get this again on any pcs, i will just copy my files i need and then just reimage pc. actually i already have everything backedup, but most people dont.
Hope this helps:
I followed this and some other discussions in the web about how to get rid of nasty Police Pro Virus. In my case the combination of MalwareBytes and WinPPFix solved major part of the problem (cleaned it), however I was still not able to run EXE files (unless I forced to run as an Administrator). somwewhere I found a reference (unfortunately I lost the link) talking about corrupted .exe in the Registry. With RegEdit I found mine was changed from ëxefile” to “secfile” (at HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.exe default value). This simple modification, for sure created by the malware) was not allwong me to run my antivirus, any too many other programs. Check your Regisitry in case you are having this issue. Good luck!
