If you have an internal floppy better to stick with 9.04 as an internal "floppy' will not work in 9.10, and it will not be able to detect the media. So the older versions work better. It does not seem as though Ubuntu even cares, but it is hard to tell as the "bug nazi geeks" latch on and then drive people away. I would almost think Microsoft people log in and then start sending out hate mail to all the people commenting on a bug, trying to stimulate brainstorming to get it fixed. For what its worth 9.04 and the older LTS 8.04 work great. From what I have heard 10.04 will have the same problem and not be able to read or write to an internal 'floppy' Not to smart as millions of people use floppy drives.

I've been using Ubuntu for years. I've seen major and minor improvements in each release, and sometimes a regression or two. I think 9.10 is truly the best linux I've ever seen. I installed it on an old P4 HP/Compaq at my parents-in-laws' house. I've installed several different distro's on there, trying to make it perform as well as my old AMD machine at home. Finally, with Karmic Koala, it is really very responsive and useful.

By contrast, my laptop came with Vista preloaded, which was a bloated mess and a nightmare to use. I installed Ubuntu 9.04 on it as a dual-boot, and ended up putting the Windows 7 RC in place of Vista. Seven is a definite improvement over Vista, and in some ways better than XP, but nowhere near the quality of linux in general, or the ease-of-use of Ubuntu in particular.

Yesterday, I tried to connect to my printer through the network, like I do in Ubuntu, but Windows couldn't find the printer! I even tried giving it the host computer's IP address. Nothing. With Ubuntu, I have no problem. The printer is found and I just click to connect. I don't have any problem finding and connecting to printers on the Windows network at work either.

I haven't had time to upgrade my laptop to 9.10 yet, but I'm looking forward to it. Ubuntu just keeps getting better, while Windows continues to frustrate me.

There's pros and cons to all OS's out there. Linux in general has come a long ways in the past few years when it comes to the ease and use for the end user. Ubuntu from what I can see is one of the fastest growing when it comes to development and the increase in users. 9.10 is no exception! Unlike Windows (for the most part)- Ubuntu and other linux distros rely on community support and feedback to develop their products. I agree with Ishan where I don't think they will take the feature out, if anything, with updates and bugfixes.. enhance it over time.

you said ubuntu 9.10 cannot be installed inside windows 7 using wubi, but I installed ubuntu 9.04 inside windows 7 and am still using it. I don't think that they'll take out this feature from the newer version if they had in the older one (and it is there in the older one)

Ive been using Ubuntu for about a yr & recently upgraded to 9.10 & I find it to be an amazing OS Ubuntu It has cleaned up the audio issue that 9.04 had with the newer PC's I currently have it on a Compaq 515 laptop I think this is the version that the general public will embrace its easier to work than Win 7 everything is mapped out well you dont have to go on a safari to find a system tool It runs much lighter then 7 which means your PC is faster I also tweaked it up with Compiz fusion which is one of the many great free apps you can get that allows you to really pimp your desktop Ill never go back to Windblows again I totally recommend this OS & you cant beat free

This article basically describes Ubuntu 6.06 ... With the given title you would expect more emphasis on what's different since 9.04.

Also I wouldn't call it a review, I would call it a list of installed software
