Verizon Motorola Droid Up For Pre-order At Best Buy With Instant Mail-in Rebate

After yesterday’s announcement that Verizon has listed the Motorola Droid for pre-order, now Best Buy follows and the smartphone is available for pre-order at the online retailer. It’s better to buy from Best Buy and the reason for that is simple: BB is offering instant mail-in rebate while Verizon would send you the money via mail and God knows how many days will pass until you receive your money back.

Best Buy is also offering update checker, a feature which allows users to go to the nearest BB store and check when he is available for a phone upgrade, and Walk Out Working, which consists of in-store free phone setup meaning that a BB employee will setup everything on your phone including mail accounts, Bluetooth, and transfer contacts.

You can pre-order at Best Buy. I walked almost 1/2 hr to the closest Best Buy, having forgotten my metrocard, only to walk out annoyed and dissapointed. You leave a $50 deposit to preorder which is returned to you as a $50 Best Buy card when you get the phone. Basically they force you to pay an extra $50 to preorder the phone and ensure that you spend it @ Best Buy. I put myself on the waiting list with Verizon. Hopefully they will offer the preorder option.
