Sprint Deploys 4G Technology In 10 More Cities, WiMax Cellphones Coming In Early 2010
If I hadn’t known better, I’d say that Sprint is putting all its card on 4G technology, and frankly, it’s going to be a winning bet for the carrier. Sprint officially announced that it will offer WiMax-ready cellphones very soon, a fact that made many people wonder “What for?” Well, the carrier is sticking to its plan and has deployed the 4G technology in ten more cities, besides the ones where WiMax service was already available.
4G service is now available in Charlotte, Chicago, Dallas-Fort Worth, Durham, Greensboro, and others. Is this good? Of course it is, and at the moment Sprint is the leader when it comes to 4G technology. In order to make use of Sprint’s 4G technology you will need a WiMax capable cellphone, a 4G plan, and the Sprint 3G /4G USB Modem U300. WiMax provides speeds of up to 10Mbps which is better than average connections at home.
Well, WiMax cellphones will become available early next year and if you want 4G service then you might wanna hold yourself from buying another 3G smartphone available on the market.
