Not long ago I heard a rumor like the boys from Nintendo are developing a new Wii console, but this time with HD technology. First impression was that a HD Wii console must be a very, very cool thing, but unfortunately it was just a rumor.

The rumor was crushed into tiny, tiny pieces by Reggie from Fils-Aime, who said that there is no way that Wii console would be released with HD technology. It`s hard for me to say that he`s right, but in my opinion if there was a HD version, the display would just be some combination of up scaling and lame-o-ify that would just make everything look super than the last generation anyway.

If you want real proves that the rumor is off, here is a conversation between Geoff Keighley and Reggie (Fils-Aime):

Reggie: Michael [Pachter] continues to be the only one who believes that this is gonna happen. I don’t know how forcefully we can say there is no Wii HD.

Keighley: It’s not coming, period?

Reggie: No.

Well the conclusion is that there won`t be any Wii HD, but just something with a different name.
