World’s First iPhone Worm Doesn’t Do Harm, Just Rickrolls You

I cannot believe that I’m saying this only now: the first iPhone worm has been released and it’s affecting jailbreaked handsets! The original iPhone was released in 2007 and it was sold in millions of units, and I’m somehow surprised to see that the first iPhone worm was released in 2009. I think the wait wash worthwhile because “ikee” changes the wallpaper on an iPhone with a picture of Rick Astley meaning that infected users just got rickrolled. What better way to get infected?

For the moment you can rest assured because ikee “works” only in Australia with jailbroken iPhone units which have SSH installed. And there’s more: if you changed the default root password from “alpine” to something else, then you are safe. Well, I think that the worm will soon be released into the US so if you jailbreaked your iPhone, just change the default password (I don’t know why would you still keep that password).

If you are from Australia then change the default root password and tell all your friends from your iPhone network to do exactly the same thing.

Like said: the first iPhone worm is not harmful and it just changes your wallpaper, however, other harmful warms might be around the corner, and just so you know, ikee was developed by a hacker named ikex so you should blame it on him if anything bad happens to your iPhone.
