Confirmed: Apple Kills Atom Support With Mac OS X 10.6.2 Snow Leopard Update
Last night Apple released the Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.2 software update which was packed with bug fixes, new features, speed enhancements, and more. There is only one problem that was rumored for quite a few weeks: Mac OS X 10.6.2 kills Atom processors support. That’s right! Although a few days ago we’ve seen a build which supported Intel Atom processors, it seems like Apple change its mind and decided to fight against low-end chipsets.
I don’t really understand why Apple is doing this and it’s just the same story as with the Palm Pre and iTunes software. Why does Apple kill Palm Pre iTunes sync support? What’s up with that? Although the iPhone and basically all Apple products are becoming more and more popular, people are starting to realize that the Cupertino-based company is making weird decisions like approving / rejecting / re-approving apps at the App Store. Seriously, I’ve had it enough with these guys.
