Although some websites in the domain noted that the lines for the Motorola Droid were not as long as they expected, it seems Motorola actually did sell quite a few Droids. According to a Broadpoint AmTech analyst, Motorola sold 100,000 Droids in the first weekend alone.

With the stores already selling half of their initial shipments, more estimations claim that if you add the Motorola Cliq numbers, Motorola can sell as many as one million Andrioid-based smartphones until the New Year. And if that happens, Motorola will really be back among the greats.

I must admit that although I wanted for Motorola to succeed, I really feared that the short lines for the Droid meant people are still not embracing it as they should. It seems I was wrong, and I must say that I am very happy of that. Go MOTO !

P.S. For those of you wandering why I wanted Motorola to succeed: More competition on a market is highly beneficial to users.
