Intel Reaches Agreement With AMD To End All Legal Disputes By Paying $1.25bn

The war between Intel and AMD has started many years ago, and it seems like the former will kill the latter, but not so fast. After being fined by the European Commission with $1.45 billion, Intel has reached an agreement with AMD to pay $1.25 billion in order to end every single legal dispute as well as antitrust litigations and patent license suits. Advanced Micro Devices has withdrawn all its complaints against Intel, but Paul Otellini cannot rest assured because the EC and the New York Attorney General will not stop their investigations.

Although everything should be fine for Intel, the company’s problem is that the European Commission and the NYAG will continue with their investigations. Apparently, Intel will still have to pay that record fine, and it seems like the NY Attorney General will fine Otellini’s company because of their bad behavior.

We are glad that the Intel vs AMD war is over in legal terms, but I do think that the former needs to review its attitude, however, I think that the gap between the two is too big and AMD will never catch up again with the Santa Clara-based company.
