Sony is looking to make the PS3 platform more social and the console is going to feature a new Cross Media Bar with Facebook integration. The Tokyo-based company has noticed that social media is the present and the future, but it took Nintendo and Microsoft to open Sony’s eyes. At the moment Sony didn’t confirm that Facebook is coming to the PS3, but these screenshots were taken from the official UK PlayStation website; probably the images were posted accidentally by someone, however, the error has now been corrected and the pics are no longer there.
The pictures show the PS3 XMB featuring Facebook, new photo viewing, and gamercard customization (you can change your gamercard’s color). I’m not sure if social networking should be the only change in the next PS3 firmware update as lots of users are reporting that their devices do not play Blu-ray discs, DVD discs, and many games due to software upgrades. Sony should address dozens of bugs and issues, but who am I to question the company’s decisions?
