The Motorola Droid made quite a big impact on the US Market with success being reported both from media reviews and sales reports. As we all know, the Motorola Droid will be commercialized outside the US under the Motorola Milestone name. What we did not know is that the Motorola Droid-Milestone is given for free at O2 Germany.

The Europeean version of the Motorola Droid (aka the Milestone), comes with multitouch while the Droid doesn’t have that feature, meaning you get one of the few features that the Droid is lacking. The downside is that the Motorola Mileage will not come with Google Navigation beta. To make up for that, new Motorola Mileage owners will be granted a 60-day full trial of the Motorola MotoNAV service. But the major difference between the Motorola Droid and the Motorola Milestone is the price.

Free Motorola Milestone - Now That's An Offer

O2 came up with a great deal for the Motorola Milestone in Germany: it is free (actually, €1) if you sign a 2 year contract with O2. So you basically get a free Motorola Droid-Milestone if you sign up for a €20 per month contract with O2.

If you don’t believe us, check out the official O2 Germany page here. German smartphone fans must really dig this offer.

  • This is just plain wrong – you have to pay 481 €. Just over 24 month. It’s only hardware!
You have to get an additional contract for telephone services!

    • Yes, we did mention that you have to get a 2 year contract with O2 to get the “almost” free Motorola Milestone, and that the minimum rates are €20 per month, but thanks for the input.

      • Sorry, I find this confusing! It’s far from free then? I mean the 20 € per month are for the phone – not for the calls and stuff. It’s about 40 € a month if you want to actually use the phone …
