Amazon Now Pushing Kindle Firmware 2.3 Update For OTA Download For All Kindle Devices
Amazon has released today the Kindle firmware 2.3 for all users in the world, however, the update doesn’t sound so promising. The Kindle Firmware 2.3 can be downloaded OTA or you can upgrade manually by connecting your Kindle to your computer via USB. Among the additions for both the Kindle US and Global Wireless, users can find an improved battery of one week with Wireless ON and two weeks with Wireless OFF, built-in PDF reader, manual screen rotation, and convert files from PDF to Kindle format.
Now that the Kindle has a PDF reader, users can read PDF documents on their ebook reader without losing the original information. Kindle users will have to send the PDF document at their @Kindle email address, but they can also use drag&drop when the eReader is connected to the desktop via USB. The manual screen rotation feature allows users to rotate the portrait and landscape views automatically, to view a web page’s width completely, to magnify PDF files, and now the five-way controller can be switched in order to match your orientation. Like said, now you can convert PDF files to Kindle format by typing “convert” in the email’s subject when sending the file to your @Kindle address.
Kindle Firmware 2.3 will not do wonders for your Kindle DX, but it provides an improved cropping of your PDF files, and it will allow you to convert PDF files to Kindle format. If you’d like to do the latter then the process is similar to the one of the Kindle US and Kindle Global. View pages longer is another feature of the firmware 2.3, and it means that Amazon has given you extra time before switching the device to screensaver: it went up from five minutes to twenty minutes so you’ll have plenty of time if you’re a slow reader.
That being said, you shouldn’t wait any longer if Amazon hasn’t pushed Kindle Firmware 2.3 to your device and you have to download it manually. Remember to let us know how does your Kindle work after updating!

I downloaded manually and installed it. The manual screen rotation does not work immediately. I still haven’t figured out how to configure settings for it if that’s what you are supposed to do. Anyone with answers?
