Opera Mobile Released To OEMs For Android Development
Everybody who owns a non-Android smartphone is thinking to switch to Android phones because this OS is simple and cool. It delivers an incredible user experience, the Android Market is growing fast, and Google is Google. Lame reasons, but they’re truthful and you cannot ignore the fact that in a few years Android will eat significant part of iPhone’s and Symbian’s market share. When buying a phone, consumers are also looking for something that provides a decent web experience and personally I think iPhone’s Safari is the best at the moment.
The BlackBerry native browser sucks, and on my Storm I’m using Opera Mini as a default browser. Now we’re getting there: Opera is also developing the “Opera Mobile” browser which is better than Opera Mini and the company has announced that the browser is heading to Android soon. As far as I’ve been told Android’s default browser is not that great, while Opera Mobile comes packed with lots of features and faster page loading.
Now that Opera has sent Opera Mobile to OEMs, we’ll probably see the first smartphones with the browser sometime in Q1 2010. At the moment it is unclear whether the manufacturers will replace or if they’ll put it alongside the Android default browser. More info soon to follow, in the meantime check out the video below which demos Opera Mobile on Android.
P.S. Please note that Opera Mini is already available at the Android Market, but like said it’s not that great. As you’ll notice in the video below, Opera Mobile will be far better than Mini.

opera mobile won’t necessarily be “better”. it’s simply a fully-fledged browser. they’re apples and oranges.
i think a compressed proxy based small screen optimised browser (opera mini) actually delievers the best mobile internet experience.
less bandwidth is one reason why it is “better” than opera mobile and other “regular” browsers.
