Next generation of Intel Atom processors was officially announced

Intel officially announced the release of the next generation of Atom processors, with the appearance of several versions of Intel Atom, used for different categories of devices like: MIDs, netbooks, nettops, tablet PCs and entry-level computers. The new platform will bring low power consumption; will come with integrated GPUs and chipset into the processor, all these being translated into a more efficient management of resources.

Intel Atom is coming in 3 versions: N450 a single core processor, with 512k of L2 cache and 7 watt TDP which includes Intel® NM10 Express Chipset, D410 for entry-level and budget PCs is a single core processor with 512k of cache level2 and 12-watt TDP including chipset and D510 a dual-core processor with 1MB cache level 2 and 15-watt TDP with chipset.

The new platform will work  with Windows 7 Starter or Home Basic, for consumers who need Windows environment for daily activity, or they will be able to choose Moblin Linux v2 as alternative for a lower price.  New Intel Atoms are the first x-86 CPUs which have integrated a graphic chipset, based on 45 nm manufacturing technology, which means smaller, more compact system designs, lower costs for OEMs and improved performance.

Already OEMs like ASUS, Acer, Dell, Toshiba, Fujitsu, Lenovo, Samsung and MSI shown their interest for the new hardware and they will integrate it into devices starting from January 4th.
