CES 2010: Iriver Story starts shipping in US this month
Iriver Story, one of the few e-readers with a full QWERTY keyboard, will see the sunlight at CES 2010 and will start shipping in US this month , after the company made an official press release which announced it. Iriver Story is not a simple e-reader, but a multi-purpose device, fulfilling many rolls with its capability to playback so many media formats. iRiver integrated a mp3 Player, a voice recorder and an eBook reader in a single device.
The gadget can store more than 13,000 books, being able to read PDF, PPT, DOC and XLS office files and capable to playback mp3, wma or audio book files. Regarding the battery, the Story can turn 9000 pages, becoming the ideal device to be carried all around. For now the company did not announced an official price for this hardware, due some problems with content providers.
Iriver Story, will be an interesting option for rival products, but with one major gap for the moment: the lack of Wi-Fi support for this early version. In the second quarter of 2010, Story will receive a hardware update which will integrate wireless connectivity. Until Wi-Fi will be added I do not think that really worth to buy it. It`s a great device, but please, put wireless as soon as possible.
