Judging by the fact that the iPhone doesn’t support multitasking, push notifications and widgets are a little tricky to develop for Apple’s platform. Anyway the iPhone supports push notifications and now the Facebook app for iPhone features push notifications as well as address book contacts sync. If BlackBerry users could have done that a long time ago, iPhone users can now sync their Facebook contacts and photos thanks to the Facebook 3.1 update.

Immediately after iPhone OS 3.0 was launched, push notifications become something very common amongst iPhone apps, but probably the most used app on the iPhone platform didn’t have this option. It’s easy to configure push notifications on Facebook 3.1 because you’ll be prompted as soon as you update (even though the default setting is “ON”).
