Motorola Droid Does Have A Security Screen-Lock Bug
A few days ago we’ve seen how Motorola Droid’s touchscreen sucks when compared to iPhone 3GS’ screen. If you don’t know what I’m talking about then head over to labs.moto.com to see a simple test that proves the aforementioned statement. BTW, moto.com has nothing to do with Motorola. Anyway, let’s see another problem with the Motorola Droid: the smartphone in partnership with Google’s Android 2.0.1 features a screen-lock program which allows users to lock their screen securely by putting in a lock pattern. So far so good, but there’s a bug which changes the whole deal.
Similar to the iPhone bug from two years ago, Droid’s bug allows thieves to bypass the screen lock by hitting the “Back” key during an incoming call. So if someone steals your phone, do not call to see who stole it! He/she wouldn’t tell you anyway and he/she would have access to all your personal information. According to TechCrunch, Google has acknowledged the bug and it’s working on a fix soon.
If you installed the security screen lock, ask someone to call you and hit the “back” button and you’ll see that the bug is real. Sadly, there is no fix at the moment.
