Out of the blue Google has decided to stop censuring their search engine’s results in what concerns China and their website, Google.cn. It seems that folks over at Google are determined to stand their ground, even if this means shutting down the whole Chinese version of Google. Here’s something we found published on the Official Google Blog:
We have decided we are no longer willing to continue censoring our results on Google.cn, and so over the next few weeks we will be discussing with the Chinese government the basis on which we could operate an unfiltered search engine within the law, if at all. We recognize that this may well mean having to shut down Google.cn, and potentially our offices in China.
The recent cyber attacks on Google and “at least twenty other large companies” as they put it, seem to be the justification behind Google’s act.
These attacks and the surveillance they have uncovered—combined with the attempts over the past year to further limit free speech on the web—have led us to conclude that we should review the feasibility of our business operations in China.

Google - China
Now don’t think that China will just sit around and let this go quietly. I can’t wait to see their reaction; till then we wait.
