Google Profiles It is a common thing to search for people on Google. Even though you are not a celebrity or a public person, chances are there are people that search google for your name. You might have even searched for your own name with Google, to see what other people will see if they look you up.

But the results you get for your own name might not be what other people should see. You might get results of other people that share your name or results regarding yourself that don’t say too much: forum posts, sport results and other pages that might not be up to date.

This is why Google will now show profile results when a U.S. name is searched on their engine. There will be a short resume of the Google profile these people created and a link to that person’s Google profile. In addition, Google will provide a few links that will help you search that name on social sites like Facebook, MySpace, Classmates and others.

If you have not yet created a Google profile but want to take control over what people see when they search your name, you can create one of these profiles for free. All you have to do is search for “me” on Google and the instructions for creating your own profile will appear at the top of the page. In a few quick steps you will create the profile that other people will see when they search your name on Google. For further information, check out www.google.com/profiles.
