Earlier this week Nokia has released the 1.2009.42-11 firmware update for the N900  consisting of minor updates like Ovi Store support as well as preparing the internet tablet for receiving bigger updates OTA. Today, the Finnish-based company announced that the major update 2.2009.51-1 or PR1.1 is available for download OTA or via the NSU. The Nokia N900 firmware update PR1.1 is sized at 85MB and if you’re getting it OTA you should get it using WLAN rather than using EDGE/3G connection.

If the previous update didn’t come with a changelog, this update has a huge changelog (well, because it’s a huge update). Among the most important additions we can find significantly improved Ovi Maps, 3 SIM cards compatibility, Microsoft Exchange 2003 support, Swiss keyboard support, improved browser, portrait mode (you can learn how to enable it at this link here!), and lots (and I mean lots of them) enhancements, improvements, or however you want to call them.

You can check the long list of Nokia N900 PR1.1 firmware update 2.2009.51-1 at the Maemo official website here. I must say: congratulations Nokia!

P.S. If the installer gives you an error which says that you do not have enough space to install the FW then you should remove some apps from the extras-repositories!
