Apple Removes Sikalosoft’s Baby Shaker From The iTunes Store

Apple does it again, but we may give them credit this time – the company has removed another application from the App Store on Wednesday. The application was called Baby Shaker, was developed by Sikalosoft, and users had to pay $.99 cents to download it on their iPhone. You might be wondering what was the problem with this application – well, Baby Shaker was designed to give an iPhone owner the possibility to quiet a crying baby by shaking its device.
“See how long you can endure his or her adorable cries before you just have to find a way to quiet the baby down!” said the description from the iTunes store. In some Baby Shaker screenshots, black and white line drawing of a baby were displayed, and when users would have finished shaking their iPhones, then a baby with big red X’s on his eyes would have appeared on the screen.
Sikalosoft’s app was introduced on Monday to the iTunes Store, and on Wednesday it was removed due to the public outcry who blamed Apple for letting an application like that enter their online store.
Apple has a good understanding with Sikalosoft as you can find an application called Dice Mosaic on the iTunes Store. Dice Mosaic is another $.99 cents app designed by Sikalosoft which gives iPhone users the possibility to convert digital photos in black-and-white dice mosaics.
Sikalosoft declined to comment, just like Apple, however, the Cupertino-based company always refuses to explain their decisions. I remind you that Apple has refused to introduce many other applications to their iTunes Store like a game which allowed you to throw shows at George Bush. Although Apple rejected a lot of good applications, it has a approved controversial programs like the one which stimulates simulates flatulence. Go figure that out.
What do you think – it was a good decision to remove Sikalosoft’s Baby Shaker from the iTunes Store? Did you download it, and if you did, what are your thoughts about it?
Update: We are deeply sorry about a mistake in the post – in Apple’s iTunes Store you can find an application which “simulates”, not “stimulates” flatulence. It was an undetected mistake. More info about the iFart can be found here. BTW, if you didn’t know this, iFart Mobile was named in the Top 20 All-time Apps from iTunes so it’s clearly very popular. You can download it to your iPhone from here.

I don’t think Apple approved any applications which ’stimulate’ flatulence. I haven’t run across one yet that made me want to fart.
The baby shaker thing is tasteless, but I don’t guess any more tasteless than games where you shoot people.
So if there was no public outcry, we would still have this so called game. Seems like Apple was only trying to check how sick or stupid we all became. I tell you this, next time it will not be removed, and uglier games will resurface in the near future. What did you expect from such narrow minded people?
How can this even be a question for debate? How about an application called snipe the ACLU lawyer? Or Michael Vic’s dog torture 2009? Obviously anyone who thinks its ok to produce or buy something this tasteless has never had children or maybe momma shook them as a baby and this is their way of getting back at society. There should be no tolerance for anyone advocating harming kids.
NOT funny. PERIOD. (I think South Park has the good sense to not even go there and everything is fair game for them)
I want the baby KILLING game, where you drop them into blenders and microwaves, then get to shoot the fat redneck bastards that produced them.
Be careful what you censor.
This is just a ploy by Apple for attention.
Same as a child trying to grab attention by doing something bad – any attention is better than none at all.
Apple appeals to young people who consider themselves to be hip, cool, and out of the mainstream. They are also exactly the same people who think they should not have to pay for anything that they can steal (i.e., download free music, instead of paying the artists who produced it). And the same people who have no conscience, since they think they should be able to do and say anything they want to, with absolutely no consequences, and absolutely no consideration for anyone else.
Unfortunately, the decision to provide this app for download is nothing more than what I have come to expect from Apple, and the desire to use this type of app is nothing more than what I have come to expect from Apple users.
it’s not censoring. apple has complete control over what the allow to be sold. that’s why they’ve made so much money with these apps (i.e., they get a cut and have control over which ones can be offered). apple approved this game. pretty sick. and for the folks who say, “what’s the difference between this and games where you blow people’s heads off” . . . well . . . not much. if it sells then i suppose apple will give it a green light. mmmmm they are a special company.
Hmm, the perso who made this game should have thought about it before. It is obvious people will not like it.
As a parent of a child who has SBS I am horrified by seeing this. These people need some education on what it’s like for the life of a child who has been hurt by this.
I would like them to come and see what this life is like….I think people like me need an apology for this!!
App. designer should be the ones responsible…VERY poor taste!! Actually a bunch of arseholes just like Greg;

Right Greg?
Anyone h=who would even consider this subject as an idea of attention or revenue needs to grow the F’ up!
This is in humane and the company Sikalosoft needs to be slammed for this. They are basically encrypting in people that it is ok to shake a baby and IT IS NOT OK. You know people say the things they show on TV, in movies and so on are teaching kids and young adults to act in crimes of a wide variety. Hello what is this…. What is this world coming to.

i know i’m really late on the reply to this one but i just stumbled across the article. i will agree that baby shaker is a bit tasteless but to say that it encrypts ppl with the notion that its okay to shake a baby is a bit dramatic. the same arguement can be made about movies and video games that show gore and violence. i play and watch that stuff, and no i’m not a murderer nor do i condone real life violence. that’s why ppl create these virtual “outs” for us to escape b/c life sucks and sometimes it makes you wanna…shake a baby.
The game is as stupid as the people banning it.
I will shake a baby because i played this game ???
I will kill people because i played counter strike ?? i will see real life nightmares because i played silent hill ?? i will destroy everything with my car because i played Flatout ??
EPIC STUPIDEST CONCERN EVER!!!
We should slam apple
No, I just don’t think this is the case
