YouTube, world’s most visited video holder, has started to change his skin this week. We have been witness to some changes that only took place to announce YouTube’s redesign.

Now it has come official that YouTube will suffer major design changes, with the goal of simplifying things:” The simpler, the better”. YouTube’s new design it’s keen on making the user focus on the video he is watching and on the website Ads.

The list of changes :

  • The removal of the five-stars rating system, replaced by the principle of thumbs up, thumbs down, in memory of Rome.
  • The information about the user who uploaded the video has been moved from the right side to under the video and has been minimized and also added an option to expand to details.
  • Actions like sharing, saving, and flagging a video have been reduced to buttons, and you can search while continuing to watch whatever is  on your current page.
  • On the right side of YouTube’s panel, where some Ads used to be, now we have the results of the search that got you into the current video. You can easily choose another result if the one that is being watched doesn’t satisfy you.
  • The ability of modifying your current page, using YouTube’s design as a foundation. This feature will be soon available, with the goal of making YouTube a video page that could accommodate a wide range of tastes.

The only thing that remains unchanged is the number and position of the Google Ads.
With all of this said, only one remains: this new design will be put on the test for the next months, when YouTube will monitor user response.
