The complete history of the Apple Tablet: rumors, facts, everything
We noticed that more and more people got interested on the Apple Tablet over the last few weeks and considering the release date soon we thought of presenting the entire history of the smartphone.
The whole movement has began from all of the Applet Tablet rumors (read HERE) or from how similar was the tablet with the famous iPhone( read HERE) , the fire being held up by specialists who found evidence of the Apple Tablet existence ( read HERE) and media argues about the final name of the tablet (read HERE).
With the Apple Tablet release date of January 27 (more HERE) – that means TOMORROW, today for me – we thought you might need to know were this story started and how it evolved.

Apple Tablet Patent
It all began in a chilly night of the year 1983- I wasn’t even born then – when Apple Inc. came up with the idea of a tablet PC. For the population of the planet, The Apple Tablet rumor started in earnest around 2002, when geeks were seriously introduced on the matter, but without any solid evidence.
In the early years (2004), the talk of the tablet was brought on by a design patent Apple filed in Europe in May of that year for a “handheld computer,” and listed Steve Jobs and Jonathan Ive on the application. The first design appeared in 2005 when a picture of a man who held in his hands a wireless device sees the light. Various designs that have evolved in the following year revealed Apple work on various touch screen-related interface ideas, most of which described using “multiple fingers, gestures and motions” plus additional methods for manipulating the user interface itself. The pinch-to-zoom functions was developed in 2006 and later used on the iPhone. On late 2006, blogs worldwide were writing that the release date for the Apple Tablet has been set to mid 2007.
In 2007, Apple Inc. put more thought into the iPhone, released on June 29th, 2007, and people started to have things to compare against the Apple Tablet. Another wild patent filed in November revealed a seriously multitouch surface capable of detecting all 10 fingers and whether or not a user was holding a pen.
In 2008, Photoshop users started the revolution of the Apple Tablet rumors, when more and more pictures emerged from the iPhone design. One of the pictures on the market, this time from Apple Inc. belly, showed a tablet designed to detect five fingers, so thinks started to get solid. From May 2008, one year passed by with nothing new.
In 2009 rumors about the Apple Tablet dimensions, screen manufacturer and a new release date set to mid 2009 hit the market again. September, when we got our first earful of rumored pricing for the non-existent product. This time it was the ChinaTimes saying that a 9.7-inch Apple “netbook” of unclear form factor would run about $800 when it debuted in October, 2009 — which did sound pretty good, we have to say. Months went past, release dates extended, and names like Verizon came to aid the tablet.
Since then Apple Tablet rumors numbers boomed and facts started to appear. This time the tablet would be 10 inches, have 3G, and a custom P.A. Semi processor. On August 14th, the iPAD (as it was referred to in the text) was listed as an option in a Borders’ Books survey about e-readers, seemingly confirming what we already knew: everybody on earth was convinced that Apple was producing a tablet which would compete with smartphones, netbooks, e-readers, and every other. On December 9, 2009, the Apple Tablet grew in size, measuring 10.1 inches on the rumor scale, and in price costing a total of $1000.
2010 was by far the most anticipated year for the Apple Tablet. On 5 January, New York Times said that the release date for the Apple Tablet has been set to January 27- I remember once again to you all, that means tomorrow (TODAY for me)- and mentioned about the new beta iPhone OS 4.0. Another rumor was a report of Orange executive Stéphane Richard seemingly confirming that the tablet existed, and has a webcam.
Then on January 18th, the official word came from Apple that there would, indeed, be an event on January 27th in San Francisco were the fallowing would be lunched: iLife, iPhone OS 4.0, and the Apple Tablet. Some analysts seemed to be thinking that it was now possible that the tablet wouldn’t be available until June of this year because of battery life issues, supply chain problems, or maybe even global warming.
So what can we expect tomorrow? Will the Apple Tablet see for the first time Media eyes or we will be disappointed once again? Fingers crossed.
