A lot of details surfaced since the last time we spoke about the HTC Obsession, a smartphone that should be released later this year. Why is this important? Because it will be one of the first devices to be powered by Microsoft’s upcoming Windows Mobile 7. Although more information will be released at the Mobile World Congress 2010 taking place next month in Barcelona, you know that we like to learn everything ahead of time.
According to Chinese website QQ.com, the HTC Obsession is actually the HTC HD3 and its specs are more than extraordinary. The US version of the HTC HD2 features 1GHz Snapdragon processor, 1GB ROM and 576MB RAM among others, however, these specs fade away when compared to the ones found on the HD3.
The rumored specs of the HTC HD3 are:
- 1.5GHz Snapdragon processor with 1080p video playback capabilities;
- 1GB RAM, 1GB ROM, 16GB internal memory, and microSD card of up to 32GB;
- 4.5-inch capacitive touchscreen with 1280 x 800 resolution and multitouch support;
- 8-megapixel camera with Xenon flash and HD video recording at 1280 x 720 pixels;
- Front-facing camera for video-calls;
- WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP, WiMax/4G, HDMI port, and 3.5mm headset port;
- 1800mAh removable battery.
If you don’t need a QWERTY keyboard then this is the perfect phone for you. Also you can ignore the huge 4.5-inch touchscreen. I don’t know if HTC spent too much time thinking about how the heck are we going to hold this phone to our ear, but we can ignore this, too, thanks to a bluetooth headset. Amazing, impressive, astonishing! I don’t have enough words to explain how exciting these specs sound. But are they real? Could they be real? Sure, why not? The HD2 is a beast, it’s selling well, and HTC has to release something much better, right?
P.S. I’m curios if the HTC HD3 aka Obsession will feature the 3D accelerator found in the HD2. QQ doesn’t say anything and I’m hoping the website forgot to post details about that feature.
