iPad A Disappointment: 12 Reasons Not To Buy it
I guess you know that Apple has released a long rumored product last week: the iPad. Many have said that this the best device ever created, but in fact, the Apple tablet is just a huge disappointment. Here’s why I won’t buy it and why you should hold yourself from getting Apple’s latest device.
1. Design
The iPad is indeed just “an iPhone on steroids.” Have you seen all of those Apple tablet renderings before the launch? Some of them were great and a giant iPhone or a giant iPod (if you prefer it this way) is just ugly. There are and there will be more beautiful tablets on the market.
2. Multitasking
This is a tablet PC. It’s a computer and you cannot run simultaneous apps? What if I want to browse the web, tweet, check email, and listen to music in the same time? I won’t be able to do that.
3. Front-facing camera
I’d like a tablet PC with a webcam for video-conferencing calls, but Apple has said “No!” once again to a front-facing camera. Also there isn’t a camera on the back, even though it would be awkward to take pictures holding up a 9-inch device.
4. Adobe Flash support
HTML5 is becoming more and more popular, and some browsers support it, but Adobe Flash Player remains the web standard if you want computer-like browsing experience. The Nokia N900 has it and the Mozilla-based Maemo browser is probably the best mobile browser in the world. Users WILL to read newspapers on the iPad and I’m sure they’ll also want to watch some YouTube videos, but… you know the story. There’s an app for that too…
5. Pricing
The Apple iPad is expensive and you cannot use regular connectors from your other devices. You will have to use some expensive Apple stuff. A physical keyboard is not included in the package, you’ll have to buy it yourself. Want a camera? Pay for it! Can you buy a conventional camera? No, you have to buy Apple’s camera connection kit. The iPad case is also not included in the package so this means that you will have to dig deep into your pockets.
6. Battery
Although the iPad is expected to run 24 hours on a single charge, things will change if play games and use WiFi or 3G connections during the day. Do you really think that this device will run a whole day? It won’t and there is no removable battery. Nowadays many consumers are buying an extra battery in order to replace the one in the device when it runs out. Non-removable battery means that you can run out of battery when you need it the most.
7. Processor
Steve Jobs said that Apple cannot make a less than $500 product that it’s not garbage. Well, Apple made a $500 product that is garbage. The iPad is powered by a 1GHz Apple A4 custom-built processor, and seriously guys, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon has the same core speed and it’s a chip for phones. You’re using a computer!
8. Operating system
We were all expecting something innovative from Apple and a new OS would have been great. iPhone OS 3.2 is not a big improvement over iPhone OS 3.1.3 currently available for the iPhone and iPod Touch. The iPad really is just a big iPhone and that won’t help you at all.
9. Micro SIM
The iPad requires a micro SIM card in order to use the 3G network. You can’t use your conventional SIM 3G card and you’ll have to buy another one only from AT&T.
10. Carrier
Rumors said that Verizon is preparing its store managers for Wednesday (January 27th.) because it’s going to be a big day. We thought that the iPad will be subsidized by Verizon, but instead we’re stuck with AT&T’s crappy 3G network again.
11. TV-out
You might purchase videos from the iTunes store and download them to your iPad. You could watch them on the large 9-inch screen, however, I’d like to watch it on a HDTV. Oh, there’s not HDMI port, not even a TV-out connector.
12. Name
People began making fun of the iPad even before its release and that’s thanks to Apple. It happens each time Cupertino releases a new product, but it’s funnier and funnier. Even though iTablet wouldn’t have been better, it’s too late now as a UK company has launched a tablet PC with this name.

Your second point invalidates your entire argument, and you fait to comprehend the intent of the device. It is not a tablet PC (personal computer), it isn’t a computer intended to make computations at all, although it can perform some. It is a device created at filling in the gap between a hand-held device (smartphone) and a full fledged computer, Your inability to grasp this concept is probably similar to the reasons Microsoft came late to the party with the Zune and every other handset maker is now playing catch-up to Apple with the iPhone.
Let me ask you something, if I were making a Keynote presentation at a sales call, why on earth would I want to multitask? To check my Twitter feed? If after the presentation I’m now using an app to take a sales order (while the device adds information in my AddressBook and generates an email receipt, why would I want to multitask? Watch re-runs of Friends?
Try and wrap yourself around the concept, this is NOT A DEVICE MADE TO REPLACE A COMPUTER! If you want to browse the web, tweet, check email, and listen to music in the same time, use a device made for that purpose.

The real moron is everyone who still thinks that PCs are the greatest thing on earth. I have an IMAC and a Sony Vaio Desktop all in one computer. The IMAC works great have had no problems with it. The Sony has crashed on me twice and twice have I had to spend money to fix the stupid thing. Not to mention that this is the third IMAC that I have owned and I still have all three and they all still work great!!! So you tell me who is the MORON NOW? I also have tried the ZUNE and it sucks not to mention how much harder Microsoft has to make things. Oh, yeah don’t forget the XBOX 360 and its problems. I know people who have gone out and bought 3 new systems after each one stops working when they could have bought a PS3 for that much. Your VAIO probably crashed because you are an idiot. True story. I was called to a site for a down network. The switch had died. I replaced the switch. Everything (Windows 2000 – Vista & Linux) came up and re-established its network connection, except the Macs. I ran through the little troubleshooting wizard in Safari. It basically told me to reset everything and that the ISP was down, but never even considered that ITS network connection needed to be reset. Mac users are why I am patient with ISP tech support treating everyone who calls like they just got off the short bus.
I think that Microsoft started this argument with the announcement of the Courier. Their dual screen tablet product has yet to see the light of day. I did however see that they were planning to make an announcement on April 12th in San Francisco.

Hey, you should check out consumer reviews on laptop fail rates at 1 and 2 year marks. Apple is like 5th place… Asus is #1. Wanna explain to me how some new company based on a tiny island is making more durable hardware than Apple?
Asus is not a new company. They have been making motherboards for a long time. Look in most high end Dell and Gateway computers and you will find them. To set the record straight, I’m sending this from my iPad while my Asus laptop is sitting on the table next to me.

Why is it that I can not run my Slacker/Pandora App and also browse the web while I wait for my next flight? Why can I not listen to music from Pandora/Slack and word on a iWork document? Why can I not watch a video and reply to an email that pops up?

personally I love the Ipad – but the non multitasking is a MAJOR limitation. If it could multitask and do a larger monitor, you could conceivably make this your work computer.
Keep in mind in many countries, business people are given smartphones, but not computers…The Ipad is a step in that direction!
The pad is not to replace a desktop when I need dual monitors, etc. and to get desktop publishing done, etc. Although not a laptop replacement, it has replaced about 90% of the need for a laptop and is incredible freedom to move around and get out and go.

You can buy an alienware laptop that’s 11 inches for $799 beats the 3g 64gb ipad, and it’s just awesome. look into this alienware laptop before you spend money on an ipad, the ipad may be ok and fun to type and write on, but if you want to do more for a good price then this alienware laptop os the thing to get, came out this year lol

Hell, my 6 year old winbook laptop with the superglued hinges and the malfunctioning power-control unit that causes random reboots is more reliable now than my friends alienware laptop was now.
As far as the IPAD is concerned, I tried one out for the first time today and I can sum it up with one word: Gadget. It’s basically a wifi PDA/Iphone hybrid with a big screen. The Ipad is a neat tool for emails and web surfing, but it really isn’t a serious replacement for a computer. I can buy a netbook for half the price with 10x the storage, more features/ports and a better keyboard.
But if you’re in the market for a big honkin’ PDA and love Apple touch technology, then this is the unit for you.

Dell makes crappy computers. I got the top of the line dell laptop pc abought 5years ago. After 3 years we have had to erase everything on the hard drive twice and had to replace tha ram. Plus Dell is in the top 10 worst customer service.

Ok, it is already announced that multitasking ability will be added summer with apple update. Using camera solves problems of no camera. They do sell VGA connectors to connect to TVS, as for battery it does last over ten hours gaming and video playing all damn day…so wrong again for the review…which is more a rant from someone that hates apple without ever even holding and iPad.
Is it a giant iPhone…he’ll know not one bit..touch is much better far more responsive, better speakers,…extremely fast. And you complain about having to buy a keyboard..your a moron it has one built that actually works great in landscape and is faster to type with than a regular keyboard.. One can purchase one if you so feel the need. But not needed at all, as I am writing this review on my iPad. Also one does not need to buy AT&T sim cawed of 3G version to get Internet.if you have a wifi model like I do, I use my sprint mifi overdrive that gives me 4g anywhere I am at that there is no signal..if you leave in a large city their are tons of free wifi spots..so I only use the miff when needed…such as now sitting at damen blue line waiting for the train and now on the train. ..what I am saying there are options.I went with wifi only cause I already had a sprint miff modem that I use for my laptop it requires no software and has a ten hr battery life so it does the job an when friends are near by I can let up to five jump on. And it unlimited.
Now for the flash issue it is not a big problem tons of sites are now jumping on the html5 band wagon and with good reason as flash tends to use a lot of CPU power and is a known culprit for over heating, also if a designer html5 is a free option to present your digital material where as flash has to be purchased, sure it is free to install but you have to install..html5 requires no installation..it is just a smarter choice. The A4 chip also is much faster an capable of process lots of stuff using little CPU power it is unique also cause it is the reason the battery last at long as it does…which I have clocked at 11 hrs 30mins or so..running nelflix , wifi. And push notificationson.
In conclusion don’t. Write a review that is not capable of backing up all the rants and raves..and complaining of something you only read about, and have not even played with to test your theories…a little research would help in the future.

#1.) I know for a fact that the iPad battery lasts more than 24 hours (I’m going on day 6 of on and off fairly heavy usage)
#2.) HTML5 is much more reliable and open tab Flash is. It is the future, and is currently supported by Google, Microsoft, and Apple. Flash was created to make it easier to add video to websites, and now that we have HTML5 (which is better than flash) we no longer need it.
#3.) If you want to watch videos on an HDTV, BUY A BLU RAY PLAYER. Complaining that a device intended for MOBILE content consumption is completely pointless. It’s comparable to complaining that an HDTV is too big to take on the go, it doesn’t make since.
Apple was the first company to make a touchscreen that integrated an. X and Y axis to allow the placement of multiple fingers when interacting (multi-touch), they didn’t change the OS because:
A. There’s nothing wrong with it
B. The customer base they are targeting generally has iPhones and macs, they don’t need to re-learn how to use ANOTHER device.
So what, it’s a giant iPod touch? It’s thinner, has a different layout, and is easier to do simple tasks on.
If you don’t “need” or want it, don’t buy it. Why hate it? Why hate the people that do want it or buy it?
Apple isn’t selling or marketing any more BS than anyone else has in the past. They give general and vague descriptions of “magical” devices that magically sell quite quickly. Good for them. They don’t have a high return rate of products and continually have repeat customers. Right or wrong, they have a strong customer base that seems to be growing since the iPod was introduced to the mass market and was well received. Why fault that?
The iPad is JUST another device. If you buy it and it does what you need, great! If you buy it and it doesn’t do what you need, then you were either misinformed (by your own lack of investigation of the product), or you are just a fan boy getting the latest Apple product and it didn’t do what you think it should do. Regardless, it’s not the manufacturer’s fault.
Say that it’s useless and doesn’t do “real” computing! I agree. However, most people, when they’re at home on the couch, don’t want to do “real” computing. They want to quickly look up what’s on TV, check an email, read a book, look at sports scores, view photos or whatever mundane tasks that don’t require a fully RAM’d out netbook, laptop or desktop computer.
The iPad is (sometimes) for lazy people with some money. They don’t want to get up and boot up that desktop computer, or lift that display up off the laptop computer or dig it out of the case after working an 8-12 hour shift. They think of the iPad as an entertainment device…and it is. It’s a PSP for adults. Is it needed, no. Is it wanted, clearly, yes, based on the sales.
I don’t have an iPad….yet.
Why would I want one?
I’d like to have an iPad (near the couch, or, yes, sometimes restroom) to relax and enjoy music and videos and photos on a screen that is larger than my iPhone (my first Apple product.) I would want to casually check my email and browse the web. I’d like to check out some “apps” that may help my life be more convenient. That’s really what it boils down to is: CONVENIENCE.

I build my own PC’s for gaming,use a net-book and laptops all with windows on them. Loved my android phone and my iPod touch. Now have 2 iPads on the way. As long as you enjoy it who cares.

For someone who owns a Blackberry for a phone (sorry but mine is more for business then a toy stuck on AT&T’s limited coverage area) and a Microsoft based 17” laptop with Blue-ray capability and duel 500GB hard drives. What the iPad lets me do is take my computer any ware I go without having to lug around the bulk of my laptop.

I have to second that… The greatest appeal of a computer is that you can and should be able to do everything with it. Why are we going back in time to a worthless product that doesn’t even multitask? Apple sucks.
You will be able to multi-task with it with an update available this Fall and no, you won’t have to purchase the update and it is for the original version. Why they didn’t come out with it to begin with can’t tell you but they obviously listen to their users and they supply the very best customer service out there. The reason there are “iSheep” is because they put out fantastic products and if by some weird chance your product isn’t working at its optimum, they either replace it or fix it without any red tape or techs that act as tho the regular computer user is an “idiot”. I also like it, but then I am not wanting one to be able to multitask. I see if more as a bigger version of the iTouch or iPhone that will compete well with Kindle, Nook and Que.
I spend about 3 hours a day commuting and would appreciate having something bigger than an iPhone to read books, play games or watch movies, but not so big that it makes my back hurt carrying it around.
So maybe there is a market out there for this type of product.
I totally agree with you. I use a blackberry bold for email and calls, and i use an itouch at the gym to listen to music and sometimes videos and to play games when i travel.
Each product does what it does WELL. I tried the Iphone but returned it as i really like the keyboard on the blackberry for texting.
I have a MacAir at home that i use to word process and facebook on. Again, it does what it does WELL
i preordered the 3G IPAD and am anxiously awaiting it. Again, i DONT think it is a computer and will replace my MacAir.
I completely agree with all those 12 points. Rather than bringing up something new, Apple has relaunched its almost 2 year old OS on a bigger screen.
It’s not even an iPhone on steroids..it’s an iPod Touch on steroids. It cannot make calls or even accept a normal sim card. So does being ‘unlocked’ really matter when you cant use a regular sim card.
On top of that, Apple is pushing the price point of this device? I would rather carry a netbook which weighs almost the same, can run a full fledged OS (even Ubuntu is better than iPhone OS), chat, video call and what not. And guess what, netbooks too have built-in broadband modules to use on different carriers and it won’t cost me $829 with wifi and 3G built-in.
All the hype for a product and Apple launches this? I would rather better off buying a cheaper iPod touch than get an iPad.
Seriously, I was looking forward to this. This is a HUGE disappointment. And above all, media is treating this as if it’s the best device ever. Everybody is going head-over heels for this. And I’m sure there are idiots out there waiting to get in line outside Apple stores all over USA to get their hands on this as soon as it comes out.
Now, I’m waiting for HP’s Slate. Hope it has 64GB storage capacity with an SD card slot run Win7 within $600-$700 price range.

Its true that apple have to face some problems over their ipad as it doesn’t have the speed and it is not user friendly like other tablets and net books which are much cheaper in the market at the moment. The reason why i am saying that there are many deficiencies in the ipad tablet such as there is no keyboard which most of the tablets have for eg Asus t91mt which supports touch screen Multitask options and it has a rotatable screen so you can use it as a tablet and as a net book at the same time as it has a keyboard as well and it has a faster processor than the ipad. Secondly the i pad hasn’t got the VGA out and as well as hdmi out this is really annoying because if you want to see something on your LCD TVS you cant watch it after paying so much money on this big iphone like tablet i think its better to buy an iphone which is more good looking and user friendly as a phone instead of ipad. Another disappointment in the ipad is the front camera, if you want to use skype on it there is no front camera you can only able to see the person whom you are talking too he or she couldn’t able to see you really miserable. I have been waiting for this device from so long and thats what they have produced a big disappointment for me as a APPLE LOVER. There is nothing to cheer about this ipad really its a waste of time by apple to get in to the pocket of every one and i think we have to wait more till apple not produce any thing cool.
While I agree with most of the stuff you said, I can’t help but criticize your complaints about the lack of flash support. OS X and Flash are in a constant war. Why would it be any better on the iPhone OS? Flash is too unstable to use on an Apple mobile platform. Plus, while Flash might be the IT standard now, the Internuts is moving away from Flash. Why is it bad to be ahead of the curve there when all you get is a gain in stability?

From my impression of the device, the IPAD is basically an oversized PDA with IPOD touch features.

Let me start by saying, I do not own any Apple products!! That said Apple have hit the mark when it comes to ‘STUFF WHITE PEOPLE LIKE’ – check out the site – very funny; and that’s the point, a lot of their products are not for the savvy IT literates, but for the masses. For my money they are doing a great job – the design appeal is second to none and that in itself sums up the whole Apple ethos – repackage that was before and make it available to the masses (Dieter Rams the influence behind Apple design). Apple may be a bit ambitious by saying the Ipad betters a netbook – for those who believe the hype, it will not matter but they will have a great fashion accessory that allows them to read books (watch out Kindle) and surf the net and watch videos. I use a n900 and it blows most things out of the water when it comes to a mobile computer/smartphone – is it better than an Ipad and the Iphone combined – without any doubt. However I take my hat off to any company that is able to redefine a market and in doing so bring new users to a marketplace by making things that were done before easier and available to everyone – including my Mum. For all you tecchy savvy in the know readers who have strong words for Apple products – relax they could never sell this stuff to you – so let those who think they need it buy it – if they think it fulfills their needs then let them spend their money.

i’ve had my iPad since saturday. i feel lucky because I was not expecting it to change my life, so when it didn’t, i was not angry like some of the people on thread.
When i switched to a mac 10 years ago, my company tech support told me I would not receive tech support on my mac (in that none supportive, tech support tone). I asked them if they could promise to never support me again? That was 10 years ago…. I’ve had very few issues and none that I could not figure out myself. That was not the case prior to making the switch to a mac. Apple makes a reliable, easy to use product… thats really all there is to it.
Multitasking is coming up soon, so the whole argument over this issue is a waste of time. Having a iPad is a luxury….dropping a measley $829 for the iPad is not a big deal. I don’t care what anybody says, sitting out in the back yard and browsing the internet on a device that is as light and easy on the eyes as the iPad is refreshing. For all you Apple haters, stay away from the “EXPENSIVE” Apple products- stop making excuses for your inability to afford these devices… it’s unfortunate that not all of us can afford it. But for those of us who can, LIVE IT UP!! KEEP IT UP APPLE! I LOVE ALL OF MY APPLE PRODUCTS (INCLUDING THE MY IPAD).

I’ve watched lots of netflix streaming movies and I use it everyday and everywhere since I got it. This toy is not for broke losers living with their mom. It’s for the elite. This product rocks and you have to own one to really enjoy it.

I have used both PC and Mac, coz I am a develper and I have to make sure my programs runs on both. I don’t hate anything more than Microsoft even though I have used Windows since win 95. The point of iPad’s failure is that it is not what a user expects it to be. Even though it may be what Apple claims it to be. For something that powerful, plenty of storage, what a waste not to have a notion of disk, document or my files. You call it what you want, I want to be able to treat my 64GB iPad as a device and copy whatever crap I have on my PC or Mac and be able to use it on the go without having to email it to myself.
I am sure the next generation would be much different unless Apple goes stubborn in which case it loses the game coz there are many others that will build the same with better features.
By the way, I am not Apple hater, I eat an apple almost everyday. LOL.

I was stupid enough to buy the freakn iPad and after one week of frustration and curse, I had to take it back. I am a newbie to all the “app” world, but why do I have to have an app to copy a pdf file from my computer to my iPad? When I asked the guy in the ‘genius bar’ of the apple store “I admit the screen is great, but I would like to read my pdf research papers!!” his answer was ” you can always email yourself” What a dumb. iPad is a great initiative but it is not there yet. I think others will get out with much better by the time Apple comes to commonsense and starts listening to people and stops putting everything (including kitchen sink) in and through iTunes.

You are missing a few points. This really isn’t a laptop replacement as one of the posts already said. To have a stronger processor you need to cool it down, to cool it down you need a thicker device with a noise fan dumping heat on you all the time. To have multitasking you need a stronger processor. No body can question how reliable apple devices in general, there is a price for that.. Limitations..
From my point of view this is a great device, may be it should have been a little cheaper but still a great device. The battery life is too good to be true, just as test i tried checking how many movies it can play on a single charge, I slept before it died… Again you can’t do that with a stronger processor.

How many devices do we need to walk around with? Ok, so the Ipad doesnt fit in my pocket like an iphone.. so where do I put it? In a briefcase or laptop bag? Then why not just use a friggin laptop? Battery life perhaps, well, for the price of the ipad I can buy a SHITLOAD of batteries for my computer.

Some of your statements are repeats of all that has been said, its quite annoying hearing this is a giant iphone when in fact IT ISN’T, it isnt even a PC tablet, its a tablet with an iphone OS, thereby rendering it not PC, it will run mulittask and the complaint of flash is even more annoying than the giant iphone excuse, flash sucks on both PCs and Macs, i prefer not havin it on the ipad to save my battery which CAN last an entire day WITH WIFI enabled and music/video, and as for the camera, do you seriously wanna hold the ipad eye level to your face so your video chat isnt staring up your nose, think before you write, say alot of lame stuff
so i went in to have my mac looked at because it would not start up last night. the guy told me my battery was way dead and I had a third party app with a bad kernel (Skype). He told me to reinstall Skype and it would be fine. He also said batteries are supposed to last for 250 charges on average. I charged mine 378 times. He said they only covered battery replacements for one year, but he would “take care of this one”. He replaced the $130 battery for free.
Keep in mind, when my iMac died after 5 years, they felt it was fair to just replace my old iMac a brand new iMac. I think the service is so good, I know I must be on a special VIP list. And the fact that I think that speaks volumes about the service.
Service is king and Apple has it nailed.
I think the service you are talking about is enough to lock customers, not the creepy way of locking everything into the ‘app’ platform. Why would not one be able to drop a damn file on their iPad. Why else would one want 64GB of storage?!
I don’t think I will ever buy anything else from Apple for the dishonesty they showed me. They told me the iPad can do like an eBook reader plus much more, but when I paid for it, I was supposed to email every pdf I had to be able to read it. What a CRAP.
Now that I have taken it back, my only regret is the 10% they charged me for restocking and ~30$ I wasted on apps to copy my pdfs to the iPad.
To save a few bucks, I went with the 16GB assuming the 2010 holidays would bring us a better version of the iPad. it’s too bad the iPad didn’t work out for you. I paid almost $300 for my wife’s kindle that really is just an eBook. It also seemed pretty clear, based in the ipad specs, that you would be using email, mobileme and iTunes to upload and download files. Not sure how you got surprised by that one. As for the PDF issue, I read PDFs everyday on my ipad. I guess I just don’t use a thumb drive to do it? I hope your returned ipad found a user that will appreciate it for the Gen. 1 device it is. Good luck in you search for a perfect device.
Well, no matter what you say about the iPad, it is going to be a complete success and millions will be sold, so say what you want.
SHORT AND SWEET. I bought and iPad, I log onto my Window’s server, I’m ype easily on the thing and check my email. I can view all my word docs via google, I have not had a problem with Flash as most sites I have visited have found a work around. This is a game changer for sure.

Ok, This is a bunch of crap. We all very much already know that no one is going to buy this product OVER a computer. It’s main attraction is format. Its not an iphone but its not a computer also. Yes it doesn’t do some things a lot of people would like. But do you really think the *no muli-tasking* is by mistake? there going to for sure come out with a bunch more versions. I don’t hate the ipad but I don’t love it also. It’s great for fun and everyday stuff. I would never pick that over a computer for work and I would never pick a computer over the ipad for fun. It just so happens to be that I am going to wait for the next ver of ipad. Because the truth is i’m not going to use it for much at the moment anyways. it would be good to have adobe flash on iPad. It is annoying when you surf and come across a video and you can’t play it. I like my iTouch. this is a big iTouch meaning bigger screen for reading. For me the consideration is potability, no noisy fan, does not get warm to hold, screen size is good, lot of applications. negatives: no adobe flash, no user replaceable battery ,no camera built in. I am waiting for the price to come down. I learned not to rush. Buy the latest gadget and see the price goes down af 2 or 3 months later. Some have to have the latest gadgets and that’s fine.
About the prices to go down, everybody knows how long it took for the prices to go down on iPod touch, so I don’t think its gonna happened with the ipad and I’m not gonna wait for that either, I’m gonna get mine April 30th

Let me start by saying, I do not own any Apple products!! That said Apple have hit the mark when it comes to ‘STUFF WHITE PEOPLE LIKE’ – check out the site – very funny; and that’s the point, a lot of their products are not for the savvy IT literates, but for the masses. For my money they are doing a great job – the design appeal is second to none and that in itself sums up the whole Apple ethos – repackage that was before and make it available to the masses (Dieter Rams the influence behind Apple design). Apple may be a bit ambitious by saying the Ipad betters a netbook – for those who believe the hype, it will not matter but they will have a great fashion accessory that allows them to read books (watch out Kindle) and surf the net and watch videos. I use a n900 and it blows most things out of the water when it comes to a mobile computer/smartphone – is it better than an Ipad and the Iphone combined – without any doubt. However I take my hat off to any company that is able to redefine a market and in doing so bring new users to a marketplace by making things that were done before easier and available to everyone – including my Mum. For all you tecchy savvy in the know readers who have strong words for Apple products – relax they could never sell this stuff to you – so let those who think they need it buy it – if they think it fulfills their needs then let them spend their money.
I was curious about the iPad, however the reason I see no point of buying it is this;
I cannot run software on it, when I pop around I need to run software, hence today I carry a laptop. IF the iPad could run programs under OSX, had some standard USB ports it would be an awesome device. Right now it’s just a huge iPhone with no GPS nor any camera.
So unfortunately it’s not a solution for me who have to run some software on it, not only apps.
Too bad as I had high hopes.
Its funny how no one seems to put down the Kindle, but something that does far more is ridiculed. I like being able to use my iPad to surf thru books and download one within seconds from my couch, airport, hotel room etc.
Pictures and videos are seconds away from viewing. Books look great. I can sit with my kids and enjoy any number of online books that allow them to touch the screen interactively and not just use a mouse.
If I wanted to carry my laptop which lasts 3 hours tops, I would do it. The picture clarity is amazing, I can stream my Netflix movies to it while on the road without having to worry about charging etc. The apps which are being produced just for the iPad look and work fantastic.
I’m guessing the majority of the people who bash the iPad have never even used one, but if they were give one as a present, they would love it. Sure it has its short-comings, but all first generation products have a few flaws.
If I want to take a pic, I can quickly use my cell camera or a real camera. Does your laptop take pics quickly or easily? Yeah I know most laptops have webcams, but that is hardly useful when you need to take a quick pic.
My 8 month old son drooled all over my iPad. All I needed to do was wipe it and life went on. I loaded several bedtime books that I read to him. He fell asleep and I launched my netflix account, watched a movie and browsed the web for a while. Bedtime came for me and I lauched the iPod, listened to some music and fell asleep.
Woke up the next morning…battery still at 59%. Checked my emails, and put on some cartoons for him as I fed him. Got to work and I had recently implemented a new system. I. Took my iPad round the office and was able to show everyone in their seperate offices the new system. At lunch, played around with some apps Got home, battery at 29%, uploaded pics from my Canon XLR camera, shared with visitors and watched a full episode of the simpsons and browsed the web for a while.
What more can i ask for?
A faster processor, more hard drive space, multi-tasking (true MT), flash support, lower price, front facing camera, how did you prop it up for your son?…, not monopolize how I use my device, not monopolize the cables and other interfacing devices… umm could go on… did I mention lower prices… what about the ability to compete in a market so that the devices get better and the prices go down… how bout a removeable battery, how bout a blowjob, how bout they release a version worth a damn up front instead of making you buy another one here in a few months cause your pissed off for paying way too much for the initial round iRape when the newer one is closer to what it should be and the price drops.

I know that I am late to the party, but I am on my way to purchase my Ipad today! I agree with some of the 10 reasons stated in the article, but as someone already posted, his reasons are not strong enough to deter me or anyone from purchasing an Ipad.
First, I know that I am not buying a computer. It is unfortunate that the writer thought he was reviewing one.
I traveled last year to visit my son in Seattle for a long weekend. Like most travelers I carried my nice 9 lb laptop with powercord, mouse, and case. It was considered my personal carry-on. While in Seattle I used it to check email, browse the web, and watch a video. It would have been so nice to have traveled with an Ipad. My personal carry-on could have held other items.
I am not purchasing an IPad to replace my desktop, laptop, cell phone, or camera. I also don’t expect my IPad to be error/bug free. I do expect it to make some of my travels lighter.

First off, Stevenn (did you misspell your own name?), everybody knows that all of the comments are opinions, that’s why they are under COMMENTS not FACTS. Second, the ipad is not for everyone and that’s okay. It is more of a luxury item that can perform some useful tasks and is still great for entertainment.
Now I have been an avid pc user all of my life (There are 5 computers with Win 7 in my house), but I used a mac at a journalism summer camp (graphic design) and felt that it had superb graphics and felt very smooth. Although I didn’t enjoy the lack of a right-click button, I still managed to immerse myself into the mac world for the first time. Many of you mac fans (whom I respect) probably know what I’m talking about. Although I haven’t had much experience with macs (apple in general), I have met plenty of happy ipod touch and mac users, my brother included.
For you pc fans, I completely understand how you feel; most apple products are flashy and pricey and do the same or less in functionality. While that may be partly true, it evades a certain point: pc’s and apple products are made for different primary functions and people.
Basically, apple products are more sleek and stylish while pc’s are valued for their creative capabilities. Now I’m not saying apples products can’t be used for creative purposes (I worked on graphic design on one after all), but one place they are definitely limited is getting information from itself to another NON-APPLE product. The bluetooth on my brother’s ipod touch doesn’t even recognize either of our phones’ bluetooth and there are no usb ports or ways to load non-apple programs. This is a severe limitation. I mention this because when collaborating with people it is important to be able to connect electronically and apple does make a hassle of it. Pc’s, on the other hand, can play cd/dvd’s and have usb ports to easily transfer files via jump drive.
So it depends on what you want. Do you feel like a thinly constructed, beautifully operated ipad, or a fully functional hp slate (or what have you)? The choice is up to personal preference.
As a conclusion I just want to say that I have only tried to cover all bases and provide a balanced opinion on the matter. If I misspoke or missed anything please feel free to correct me. Thank you for reading. (BTW: I’m looking to get the iphone 4g when it comes out. Can’t wait!)
Got one for my wife. Was very skeptical. Now I love it. Great for everyday Internet use. Use my iPhone for Internet all the time. This is much better simply because of the screen size. LogMeIn (Ignition) to my work computer is great! Expensive for the 3G max memory version but already using it a lot…
Two things..I have had my iphone for 3 years now, 8 days after my warranty expired, I lost three pixels in my screen, I phone apple, after a short conversation with the phone tech, he told me that he would send out a brand new iphone in exchange for my old one, if in fact the damage was determined not to be from neglect or abuse, there would be no charge for the exchange..as for the VAIO all-in-one desktop..I have had mine for over a year now, did lots of research of all the same computers that matched the all-in-one desing, apple Imac being one, sony came out on top frm all the tech sites that did comparisons..so I bought one and have never looked back, I use it daily, for hours on end and have never had a single problem, other then the crappy operating system, windows vista, im quite happy with my purchase and have recommended the VAIO to lots of people.

iTouch and iPhone is pretty cool to do things…in a small way. I take mine to bed every night. Browsing web pages, using a map, or doing just about anything in a pinch or on the go is cool, but cramped. The iPad is 6x as big…and is completely useful anywhere. I can freely move around the house…not bound by a 10 lb weight in my lap tethered to a cord, mouse and a lap rest. My lap doesn’t sit there and cook. I can adjust the screen at any time, any angle…and it is perfectly readable at any angle…unlike my very nice 17″ laptop that really needs to be adjusted JUST right. Browsing the internet is just simple…well…better. I mean, I like my 28″/17″ dual monitor desktop and Firefox running with 15 open browsing windows…and at school/work, with three monitors and a dozen apps relative to my classroom including student monitoring software on one entire monitor. But when it comes to light browsing…I actually LOVE the 9.7″ screen of the iPad. It is close, and personal…and easy to move around a page…and zoom in a bit if I need to.
And as a photographer? WOW!!! If you like to show your work…and I do…the iPad is a dream come true!!!
The iPad may have limitations…but so did my first laptop, Newton (long live the Newton), palm pilot, phone, VCR, DVD, etc. There is always going to be another generation. Who cares what the “Slate” will be like…how does one compare something that isn’t even shipping. If truly is great…sell the iPad when the “Slate” comes out.

Hmmm… Having read through the article it reads like the author(s) intended to not the unit and needed to find reasons why. certinly there are valid conclusion, But many if not most criticisms were half baked Multitasking being one case of several where your info is only partially correct and solutions such as the SIM card were not fully explored or explained, a product of going off half cocked.
As a now owner of a 3g unit and an ardent Anti-fanboi, it find there are many things to like and not like. Battery life on continuous 3G ro Wifi for example is going to be around 4-6 hours I think playing video wil put you in the bottom end. Recharging is ssssloooww too. To go from 68% to 100% took 4 hours.
Time will tell on all of this. I expect you need to eat some crow as well as taking credit for what you got right.
Overall a poorly thought out and explored assessment clearly based upon a bias that extended to incorrect conclusions in many cases Score 3/10.

This article did not need the iPad release to look foolish. Nor would I say the iPad is insanely great or even the latest Apple Jesus-machine. It’s good yes, damn good in fact, but the lack of app stability is a problem as is the lack of Flash. Give the hype machine time to wind down in about 4-6 weeks when the iPad is old news and the new O/s is about to release the we’ll have real sense of overall wonderfulness. One thing is for sure Apples competitors have a high bar to get over to compete in this newest tech arena.

As much as I admire Apple products not sure that statement rings true, e.g, if you are including corporate sales (i.e., companies still have to purchase handsets, albeit heavily discounted due to volume). I believe the Blackberry is a possible contender over the Iphone (without doing the maths) which means it is unlikely that Iphone outsells the Blackberry just because of the fact that Iphones are not really used in business. Multiply the number of business users against the consumer market – accordingly, not sure this statement rings true. The big winner for total handset sales is still Nokia (see Gartner market intelligence figures for mobile phones), though hats off to the success of Iphone – a single product that did change the market.
It will be interesting to see how Nokia’s merger with Intel pans out and their new O/S MeeGo. Also – a point more relevant to the discussion to hand is HP’s purchase of Palm – Web OS and HPs success with the HP Touchsmart I think leaves the future open for some great new products and a challenger to the IPAD. HP have pulled their Slate, which was claimed to be a competitor of the IPAD – what will they do now that they have Palm in their hands – pardon the pun.

I’m a PC user since IBM released PCjr, that long. I don’t own an iPhone (I have one of those berries), I was given a hand-me-down iPod (never paid an apple product before). So, I finally bought an iPad because I thought it was a cool device. And it is! I don’t expect it to do anything other than what I intend to use it for i.e. web browsing, music, videos…I only own SONY VAIO’s coz they’re cool designed PC, I have a laptop (small factor), a Sony Media Center conencted to my Home Theater (with big ass 400 disc DVD-changer) and all-one-one desktop VAIO in the kitchen. Honestly, ever since I got the iPad, I hardly touch my PC’s.

If its in a case, you still need to carry it just like a laptop. Whats the difference between having that Ipad and a laptop? not having to turn it on? The macbook pro’s sleep mode is excellent and opens right up. And you can do EVERYTHING you can do with an IPAD and more.

I have 5 laptops of all different sizes (and age) in the house (and two desktops both with multiple screens)…4 of the laptops that I personally use for various purposes, mostly for presentations. I have been using laptops since my first Mac Duo 280c in 1994. No laptop that I have ever owned is as cool, clever, portable, and useful as the iPad.
The iPad is freedom…where as a laptop is a tie down. I know newer laptops have a good run time…but even they like to be powered for better processor speed…which means a power adapter. And then there is that stinking track pad. Sure, multitouch does help…but a mouse is still better, IMHO. So, that means you got two things tying you down. ANd at least for me, I use mine on a laprest to protect my “lap” from the heat…and to provide a surface for the mouse. Just another thing to have to deal with when using a laptop.
And really, browsing on an ipad is actually more fun than browsing a normal computer because of the ability to zoom in so easily, or rotate. There is a reason why a monitor that can be rotated to portrait is so cool…you can actually fit more than you can on a widescreen in landscape mode.
Ever get tired of sitting at a desk or sitting in a chair with a laptop? I do…been doing the laptop thing for 16+ years. I am sick of it. The first laptop I owned was as cool as this first iPad as it allowed me to not have to work at the desktop all the time. But since then, I have been tied down another way. The iPad is as much freedom from the laptop as the laptop was freedom from the desktop.
And, I have a lot of back pain…so I like to lay on the couch…or even the floor to relax in the evening. I bought a netbook…still too awkward to use with it on my chest…or trying to use it to my side. Even a mini laptop gets hot and is heavy. Doesn’t work so great on it’s side (I tried…my netbook even has the ability to some how awkwardly rotate it’ screen sideways…assuming you can type sideways…and move a mouse sideways).
Ever hold your laptop in one hand? Not too fun, huh? Maybe for a few minutes…but not for long. You can with the iPad. In fact, you can use the ipad in just about any orientation you want. And, you can walk around a room, checking things off, like I have with attendance and students lists.
It was perfect for grading also as I graded students documents, I was able to enter their grades into the iPad. Before, with the laptop, I had to grade everything, then record all the grades. But with the iPad, I just turned it on in a split second and was ready to enter the next grade. I have tried that before with a laptop, just entering one at a time, but the hard drive spinning gets annoying, and even coming out of sleep takes too long compared to the iPad. Not to mention the amount of space the laptop takes when I am sitting in my recliner grading. iPad…almost zero foot print.
The iPad has already proven again and again to be MUCH more portable. It has gone places that would just be odd to take a laptop to. Take your laptop to the coffee house, sure…but are you going to take it to lunch? To the workout studio? How about to the restroom? Seriously…the ipad is just get up and go, freedom to move around. I admit…I am a computerholic…working on or around computers 18 hrs a day. I teach computers. I am a photographer and most of my work needs a computer. And I shop almost 100% online. And, I like to look up just about anything, even while watching TV or Movies, I will look up information from reviews to show details.
Currently, I am carrying my ipad in a netbook bag. The bag is too big, so I will eventually get something else. I ride a bicycle to work when I can…and there is no way a laptop of any significance would make the trip…but the ipad is just perfect…fits right in my caboose.
Now we are getting somewhere… I like that! Most of the people on here just say “MAC RULES’ or “JUST BUY ONE”.. thank you for putting some thought into it.
Let me ask you a question: Do you own a macbook pro? I dont have one, buy my wife does. The damn battery lasts forever, it runs cooler, less bulky and wakes up instantly.
If you dont have a newer macbook pro with snow leapord I can see your argument. And I can see that investing 600 vs 1800 dollars makes sense. But if you are into photography you know you need something with a USP to plug your camera into..
My question is instead of accepting mediocre, why not DEMAND that apple bring this device up to par. That way you truely can leave your laptop behind and not lose functionality. They should enable bluetooth 100 percent, there is so much more they could have done!
but most of all, it should come with a carrying case you can wear. If you didnt need to carry it by hand it would be a much better product IMHO
Indeed my Mac laptop is an older G4…but it is 12″…and until the Ipad…was my travel laptop of choice, for airplanes, etc. But actually, I don’t like Apple products. Used to teach in a Mac lab…for like 8 years…was pretty upset when they switched my lab out…but now I PREFER teaching to Windows XP. Just bought my first iTouch (actually…I bought two phoneless iPhones for me and my wife) a few months ago after a person showed me his photo collection on his iPhone. Not only did it blow me away for how good it looked, I realized that not only was the iPhone/touch a neat way to show work candidly, it was a GREAT way to show a potential client my work. I hate being tied to iTunes…but it was hard to resist the unique quality the “iTouch” offered.
As far as the iPad being perfect, or missing details of this nature or another, etc., I am not 1% disappointed in it. It is exactly what it is right now. And it is perfect. I fully expect another model…and another…and another. And I will buy those as well (and sell this one). You can’t fault Apple for it not being perfect. Neither was the Apple Newton Message Pad…but I bought one of those…as I did a 120, 2000, that I then paid for it to be upgraded to a 2100 (long live the Newton!). I also bought a Nikon D100. It was expensive…and every picture coming off the camera needed to be tweaked. Compared to today’s D90 (of the D3 I have or any other of the Nikon DSLRs I have bought along the way since the D100 in 2002 just days after it hit the market) it is FAR better! I bought a Kayak two summers ago. Went in the other day…and they have the PERFECT model this year…much better than the one I have.
You have to put things in perspective. Sure, Apple could have crammed more in…and we could still be reading about it for another 6 months. It has changed my life TODAY…not 6 months from today. A forthcoming HP slate may indeed be better…but it is hard to compare something in my left hand with nothing in my right hand. Know what I mean?
Everything is that way. I was one of the first on my block to buy a color laser prints (it was Apples $6k laser printer), a flat bed scanner (it was $1k), a DVD player, Tivo, GPS, even a one of the first to buy a digital camera…the Apple Quicktake. NOBODY even knew what it was. But we produced almost the entire school yearbook…in 1996! I also bought a Plasma when they were pretty expensive.
The bottom line is that I don’t mind being an earlier adopter. I paid $500 for my iPad (I figured 16gb was just perfect…I didn’t buy it to watch movies). I paid $300 for a netbook a few months ago…and this iPad is WAY more useful. I would sell it…but…my 17″ FULL size laptop just died. If 6 months passes…and I decide to buy another newer model iPad…so I sell this one…maybe for a 20-35% depreciation…that is still a long time of a new freedom of computing.
Hey, I did get i right with my boat…bought a 39 year old 14′ aluminum boat with an even older 25hp Evinrude…paid less than $1,000 for everything. Now this is something that won’t get outdated next month! LOL!
I’m not saying that I will never use my PC. I can’t, my job revolves around PC. All I’m saying is leisurely iPad is great because it has nothing to do with my work. IPad gives me more time to relax. All my PC has something installed related to my work whereas iPad is completely free from my job. In fact the next time I replaced my computer it will be a mac
Carrying my iPad is one of the easiest things. I either slip it into my bag where the laptop would go and it feels like there is nothing there. Or I’ll just carry it with me under my are or in hand (I have the apple case) and just sport it around.

Yes, I know that everyone wants to know that 1 reason to buy an iPad. And it’s really something to experience in hand. Not over text. I mean I have it set up rit now so that I am editing on final cut pro with my computer up on a stand on my desk with my iPad as my keyboard, and when I go to class I have a notebook app to take notes instead of a notebook. Same with my business meeting for notes

All of the people talking shit on MAC, obviously have no real experience. Ultimately, you are talking out of your asses. I used to be just like you. I used to say……F-you and your MAC. I can’t stand the layout…..I don’t know how to use the damn thing.
Then when I entered a profession that required me to work allot with different types of creative media my life changed. Now this is why the MAC is absolutely superior to PC. There are no drivers to BS with. All cameras, midi….etc….for the most part are plug and play. Also, the mac is intuitive. I’m sure the first computer that most of us touch is a pc. If you think about it, you’ve just been conditioned to be counter intuitive. Your just used to something else. That does not mean that what your used to is better. It’s really the not knowing that seems to piss you off. The right click does actually exist on the mac. Most likely, if you can think of a function that you think you cannot do on a mac, you actually can. My husband was able to even install windows on his mac. Mac computers include boot cam to make this possible.
Another great thing about an apple is that you most likely will not have problems with a bunch of virus bullshit. I can’t tell you how much money had gone down the drain having to deal with my PC getting infected. How many of us had the pleaser of getting that Worm virus???

The fact is, even if apple products are better (which maybe they are, maybe they’re not…depends on who you ask) it’s really hard to justify pay 2-3x more for their products. I just looked at laptops, and comparable apple models were over 3x the cost. I can easily afford it, but I don’t want to waste money on something that doesn’t give a return that’s commensurate with the increased cost. The apple company and users are just in love with themselves…and some want to be part of the cult and some don’t.

Steve Jobs and Apple execs are money hungry just like the rest of the US – the advantage that they have is that Windows rules the world and Apple has figured out a way to put out ‘alternative’ devices that look pretty but have half the functionality of similar devices in the same market space. All they did is market that to a bunch of alternative artsy fartsy types with money to burn on an alternative to the mainstream PC world. Now that they have a bunch of brainwashed iZombies, they can do pretty much whatever they want. iZombies will buy a piece of my own dog’s shit as long as it has some bubbley looking corn husks for buttons and Steve Jobs gives a 3 hour keynote on it.
I own an iPhone and I enjoy it because it meets my needs for a phone first and then there some extra stuff that is fun too. I’m not married to it and would consider other phones. I know how to see bullshit when it’s present… the problem I have is these jackasses that marry into technology – that is dangerous to the market first of all and second of all it’s a tell to the rest of your personal valus.
I am testing out an iPad right now. And I totally agree with you. This is a cool product but has very limited functionality. Inalso have an iPhone and consider other phones as well.

You guys need to consider that fact that Apple always come out with better products later, usally for less. Ipods started out kinda crappy, i mean they didnt even have screens but then they got better and better and cheaper and cheaper (at least cheap for what they could do). besides i think they are already coming out with a newer model of the ipad either late this year or early next year,( just like their other products) with will probably be able to do a lot of the stuff you guys keep complaining about. btw i thinks its funny you guys can get so worked up about a tech toy. i mean this isnt life and death stuff here. no one’s is gonig to die it they can’t tweet and listen to Pandora radio. would it be more convient, yes, are your going too keel over and die, i sure hope not, but if you do then you probably deserved it lol.

I agree with the website promoter discouraging the sales of the IPad because it really is just an overblown phone. When it comes down to it,I won’t buy the IPad for the following reasons:
1)Too Pricey! My refurbished laptop computer costs less and does more than the IPad.
2)If I wanted to carry something around that has the makings of a laptop computer with all the accessories needed for it from a keyboard to a special carrying case, I would rather carry an actual laptop since it has a lot of things built into it already.
3)If the only reason why to get this IPad is to watch movies, listen to music, or play games- I can do all that on my inexpensive laptop and more. Also I can do that on my PSP as well and it is more compact in size.
4)Size is everything in this compact society of ours. Isn’t the idea behind downsizing computers is to make them more affordable and able to be use anywhere. I am all for having a nice big screen to look at to watch movies on, but I would rather go to the movie theatre for that experience or watch the movies on a 54inch plasma screen tv with HD picture.
5)The other reason to not get it is that the IPad boasts being able to give you the choice to read as many books as you want on it. Let me tell you something, for the price they are asking me to pay for the IPad; I can get any books I want and as many books I want for free at the library.
6)Also, I like the design of the laptop simply because I can work with the screen standing up on its’ own rather than with the IPad where my arms will get tired from holding it from holding it up for long periods of time.
So yes I agree with the website promoter’s opinion and feel that Apple should go back to the drawing board and redesign the IPad which has lots of design flaws; which I suspect was purposely built in to it in order to extract more money from a society of blind, jobless, on a strict budget fools. So don’t knock the promoter of this website, he is only stopping you from making a BIG mistake financially cause it always comes down to money and without jobs-no one has it to pay for this ridiculusly priced computer when they could save lots of money getting an IPod phone, paying $7.00 for a movie ticket, or getting some exercise and going to the library to get a book to read for free, and so on. If you want to pay close to $1500.00 for the IPad and the accessories sold separately, then be my guest because my mother bought my brother a mini laptop computer at PC Richards and Sons for $350 and that is with all the accessories included. So when it comes down to it, who is the smarter shopper; the person that pays $1500 for an oversized expensive IPod phone or the person who is thrifty and gets more bang for her buck at one-third the cost. You decide for yourselves.
Everyone needs to stop comparing pc to mac, windows to mac is a comparison because Apple makes only 3 kind of laptops. “pc” has 30+ businesses making their own computer that runs windows. The reason pc’s can run cheaper is because they have competitors that keep trying to drop the prices. MacBooks are winning the race be default.

I think you have your comparisons messed up. PC-Mac in terms of technology is a comparison, difference is PC is doing it right in terms of competition and it shows in price, market branches, availablity and the fact that you can’t just push overpriced, underfunctioned devices on PC users. People have control over PC, Apple has control over iZombies.

Wow….I’ve somehow managed to read through most of this post and comments and y’al have me laughing! Do you remember when the iPhone first came out? There was absolutely nothing to compare it with. It became a true revolution in handheld and phone technology and every company has worked hard to release a device that competes with it.
The bottom line is this, apple has managed to make a device that requires minimum knowledge to use. My son is 8 months old and he knows how to use it. I don’t think apple made the iPad to replace anything but I do believe it was made to stretch our other electronics capabilities like what I’m doing right now.
The iPad is quite, does not heat up, can go anywhere, battery life is great, and above all it WILL get the attention of ANYONE including your mom, your grandpa, your nephew, and your cousins. It has made it’s way into homes much faster than any other device out there. Call me an iZombie or an iSheep if you want but sorry, I’ve got one and I love it.

actually there was a device that was similar to iphone. it was a hp pda phone device. i don’t remember the exact model but it exist. i believe they where the introduce to the public before the iphone came out. and i believe that there were more of it that came out aside from hp/compaq. the next time you open a discussion about how great mac products are, obviously there not. you might check your info because you make mac users “STUPID”! And that is a fact! have you heard about PDA, check on it first then make a comparison. you find some interesting fact.

I don’t think anyone denies that the iPad is cool, but the problem is that it could be so so so much more and cost so much less. The real problem is Apple sticking these inferior products out here at high prices and then slowly leaking out software/hardware updates that should have been there to begin with. It is called planned obsolescence. Apple advertises a pretty cool product called the ipad that is similiar to the iphone/itouch but different but still wants one. And then a year or so later they come out with the ipad2 or whatever you want to call it and it has some cooler modifications then the first ipad. Everyone will desire that one as well and once the ipad2 comes out, the first generation of ipaders will want to upgrade and Apple will yield the highest amount of profit they could have selling a first and second generation ipad.
Personally, I think there is a need to agree to disagree.
I’ve read these comments, trying to see if there’s any extra info which would sway me in one direction or the other (such as people who own them and they had this problem or that problem, or what application may be difficult to use). I didn’t come on here to argue over whether or not it is a 100% replacement for a phone, laptop, camera, dog walker, babysitter, ect, ect.
What needs to happen is this…each individual person has to take a few moments and decide what they need, want, and will actually use in a device. Then make a decision for yourself.
I agree and disagree with certain points of both parties. No one should buy something just because it is cool and new. I understand that is how most consumers are, I will admit to doing that as well. But, I am seeing way too much of having things just for the sake of having them. Keeping up with the Jones.
I don’t have any kids of my own yet but far too many 5 year old kids these day, for example, have PS3′s. I personally know 4 kids with their OWN in their BEDROOMS. and 3 of the 4 have trashed there’s already. Our society is moving forward so well with technology, but as consumers we need to decide for OURSELVES what is necessary, what we want, and what we can afford to spend. We also need to monitor our consumption. Everything is instant and advanced and it’s wonderful -technology truly makes life easier. But we still need to live life. We still need to exercise our right to choose for ourselves, and our right to know the difference between wanting and needing.
A 5 year old should not get a PS3 simply because he/she wants one or his/her friends have them. Will they take care of it? Are they appreciative? Or are they too young to take care of it and truly value them.
ALLLLLL that being said, on the flip side, this isn’t a laptop. It’s not a phone. It is it’s own device. If you have done your research on what this device can and can’t do, if you can justify using it regularly (for whatever reason), if you have the money to spend on it (this needs to be said considering the current economy), and LASTLY if you really want it –then by all means buy it and enjoy it and I hope you are happy with it.
As for me, I plan on taking a trip to see it first hand. For me, I know that my work does not require me to carry around a laptop all day or to stay connected 24/7 beyond being a phone call/drive to work away. I have a phone and I am happy with it (not an iPhone- a regular not-so-fancy phone). I have a laptop and all I do on my laptop really is Facebook, email, browse the web, play games and listen to music. For me, the ipad might be a good fit. I will have to see for myself though. My one deal-breaker would be multi-tasking. I don’t need to do 100 things at once, but it would be nice to browse the web and listen to music at the same time. If they have already fixed that – or plan to soon – then I’ll be on board.
This might be a Mac vs PC discussion for some people. But, at the end of the day, the title of this article is “iPad A Disappointment: 12 Reasons Not To Buy It”. Not one of those reasons say “its an Apple product”. So to me that means, these comments are to relay back and forth what is good about it and what is bad according to your personal experiences and what you do and enjoy on a daily basis.

The iPad is handy, portable, display device with minor content creation capabilities. It is not intended to replace computers that create data.
When I first began computing, I tried to use an old TV set for my monitor; eventually I decided I needed a dedicated screen.
Over the decades, I have discovered many devices that do a satisfactory job handling multiple tasks and other devices that I choose because they do one task well. At one time I used a printer/scanner/copier/fax/phone combo unit. Now I have a dedicated scanner because it does that job well for me.
The iPad is a first generation product that hopes to create a new way of viewing data. I am pleased with it.

1. I know you Mac followers have gotten accustomed to a non removable battery. But this is a horrible design. And it’s no mistake either. It forces you to send your unit in for repair to replace a battery. I would like to see 1 million returns by consumers demanding them to make the battery removable.
2. Flash- despite what the messiah (I mean Jobs) tells you about flash…. It’s everywhere on the net. If your argument is that this is not a computer replacement but for media… Why not have a device compatible with a site like Hulu…
3. USB port – ok, some people are arguing that it doesn’t need one. In apples own opinion you do. That is why they sell a USB port for the unit. So let me get this straight… They invented an amazing innovative device and couldn’t fit a USB in??? You know what this means??? It’s not that innovative. Give it all the tools you need and make it this small and I will re-buy it.
4. For 829 dollars you can get a laptop from Dell with a larger screen, 500gb hard drive, USB ports (lots of em), a replaceable battery, and you can still view all the media you want with or without flash. Oh, and have enough money left over to buy a laptop bag and a full tank of gas… Maybe even a meal or two.
What am I saying? You are paying top dollar for a shiney cool looking, attractive piece of garbage. With a few simple changes it would have been a real powerhouse. If you are smart DO NOT BUY THIS – ( yet).

I work on Windows based workstations all day at work for over 18 years now, but I still like what I can do on the iPad also. Just like some posters said before, You like it you buy- it if not, just ignore this device. Simple as that. Personal preference…
First of all I had an open mind to try it. I beleive anyone who calls themselves a mac person or pc person to be an idiot. All I care about is if the technology is good.
Personally. I think telling people about my experience from a non- biased point of view is 100 percent the idea behind blogging. Open communication is why bloggs exist in the first place.
I do not fully comprehend what you find so appealing about this device. It lacks basic functions, it only allows you to get you applications from one source, the non-removable battery, the insistance of no flash on the device even though it’s technically possible. It’s a sham.
I don’t like flash to be honest but it’s something we need to live with. Without it you miss out on so many videos online that you end up with a 700 dollar paper weight. It’s like buying windsheild wipers that only work on snow…. Not rain. It’s a bad tool.
I think whether the technology is good or subpar is quite subjective. I, as an iPad user finds the technology quite sound. But for a super tech-savvy person, one might find it as an underachiever. What the iPad offers works for me, not as a primary device, but as a companion to a true computer. That is all I am saying. Not all of the users need all the bells and whistles, nor they are blind followers.
I agree with you totally as far as the battery is concerned. That IS bad. I will be crying foul when the time comes. But for now I will have me some fun with this device. BTW I read somewhere that HULU is coming to the iPad soon.

With that open mind do you really consider a USB a “bells and whistles” item?? I think anyone who wants this device will at some point want it. Do you really want to keep that USB port in your pocket all day every day or have it built in? How much you want to bet the one time you will need it you would have forgotten it. It should be installed plain and simple. If you need a bag for accessories you might as well have a laptop. We computer users demand a usable item
as for that battery issue. This is what I really want you to understand. When you buy anything you should not only buy a simple device for now, but one that will meet your future needs as well. You do not buy an electric car because someday you may want to across country. You are waiting for the infrastructure to catch up. Pretend for a moment that batteries never fail. What if you are on an airplane for 21 hours. Your device is only good for 10 max. If you could bring a swappable battery or two….. What if you are using the ipad for sales presentations and the battery dies. So many reasons you cannot even foresee. And someday you may need it. You are buying a tool. Get the best tool money can buy not a “good enough for now – sorta” device.
Okay, if you consider the iPad a computer, not a device which was designed to be as an in-betweener, then what you said is true. But until then it is just a device aimed at a specific catagory. So it is more than adequate. Of course we all want the Ideal Device which can do everything and anything at the lowest price.
Yes, a built in USB port would be very helpful. But if you are going to a meeting or a presentation you will be carrying more than the device itself. So carring an extra peripheral, like a charger, should not be a big hassle. Not everyone takes a non stop 21-hour flights. There will be outlets for charging up the battery along the trip. That is why I said rating the technology good or not-good is very subjective. I bought the WiFi version knowing well that I won’t be needing to connect to the internet all the time. I know I will want to do sketchings rather than get connected to the web while riding the bus or train without having to carry all the markers and colored pencils. So to me, personally, it can do everything what I bought the device for. I have videos loaded on it so I can watch a movie if I want to. Will I be creating contents during these time? I don’t think so. That is why I say it is just personal preference.

I have been using computers since… 1984… not an Apple hater at all… had an Apple IIe… I have an I-Phone, a Macbook, an I-Mac and I will get a basic I-Pad. I think that Apple does a fine job these days at packaging hardware technology so that people can use it. As to my MACs… were it not for Microsoft, I could not use them… both OS.X Leopard and Snow Leopard are lousy… once you start in fact doing technical stuff… they both crash, then there is hardly any good software for MAC. As a result I use XP and Vista, which both run 100% stable using Bootcamp, here Apple did the right thing to provide Bootcamp!
(I wonder why Apple does not simply offer MACs, with OS.X with only Bootcamp on it, removing all the other gunk…) For me the I-PAD is just a very basic computer to read books, check mail without having to start my computer, run a few aps that only need Wi-Fi. The thing is… the I-PAD as the I-Phone are easy to use… all via touchscreen, and… like for MS Windows, there is plenty of Software! You need Software to benefit from a computer… where the MAC fails, both the I-Phone and the I-PAD succeed. As to video… I think I have a Full-HD TV for that! Hey, the day ie. Sony, Samsung whoever… sells me a better similar device then the I-Pad for less money with more software… I will buy it! But until then… I will use the hardware I can get software for!

I have tried many phones from Palm Treo to now the Iphone 3GS, I am going to get the Ipad. Why ? Because I work hard and I can afford it and the quality of the image and transportability is fantastic; you can’t find lighter I am sure on the market. The battery is better than any 6 cells on the new chitty netbook. It is fast and I am sure because I am Canadian that I will be able to thetering so when I will not be home; I will use my Iphone connection to do what I want.
Color and resolution and capacity to expand a picture or text directly on screen is far more interesting on this toy than on a Tablet PC.
If I need a PC because my boss use the other platform and I can’t access the software on my IPad… I don’t give a shit.

As VPN is a function available on Ipad, I will be able to access my employer’s server and use any software I need to use including Microsoft Exchange that I use already on my Iphone and all other internal company system.
The use of a camera is not essential and I prefer to have the option to add it as an accessory if I need one. I can see you trying to make a movie with your laptop you idiot… I already have a very good one that also makes great videos on my Iphone.
I can watch what I need on the Ipad and really, why buying a laptop or PC with a blueray player when I have already a big screen at home; those are options for poor people that can’t afford the real thing unless you have to use it at your work place; lots of security officers watch movies on it during their boring night shift.

My main problem with the ipad is that it is not a stand alone device. This meaning you need a separate computer to actually use one(sync). Why doesn’t apple put itunes on the devices?At least the ones with 3g. Allow backing up of apps and other purchases in the cloud( and the ability to self restore). Maybe even charge for non itunes music and data space on the cloud.Allowing owners to backup on their own computer if they felt it was needed. Right now it isn’t an alternative to a netbook or notebook,because in the end you need a notebook or desktop to use it(not forgetting another internet connection).One computer needing another is a bad flaw and weak spot of this product. At least in my opinion.
I like the way the iPad looks and with cloud computing, wireless and virtualization technologies, I can see more coming out from the tablet PC market. I have an iPhone and like it. I won’t buy the iPad unless it can multitask,and be used for video teleconferencing. Although I understand there are VNC\RDP apps that work with fair results, I can’t justify spending that much money for a toy that I can’t ride. I do however, have high hopes for this technology, the personal computer design is stuck in the 80′s, no matter how dissappointing version 1.x is or is not, we are poised to break out of the desktop\laptop paradigm.

I think it really comes down to why would you buy an iPad when you have an iPhone? Where’s the cost-benefit when you have to pay a hefty data fee and buy your apps again?
I didn’t bother with the iPhone because I that it was impractically small to do the things I want to do with it. On the other hand, the iPad seems to be a useful size not much more expensive than an iPhone.

I lovee my PC, I love that my friends and colleagues and co-workers and partners-in-crime have PCs. One out of every 100 people I deal with online has a Mac and those people account for 80% of the pain in my ass. Adapting to Mac users is a colossal pain in the ass. Everyone has PCs. It’s just the way it went. If Mac was smart, they would have cost much less to begin with and had amazing customer service… then they would have gotten the attention of the masses. Right now, if I were to switch to Mac, which is great, I would be everyone else’s pain in the ass. Just like if I were to have insisted on BETA and had everything on Beta… it was clearly the better product, but ridiculous to invest in because you could not share the media with most people. The iPad is truly a unique device. Using the Internet is so much faster and funner to use than my PC. Also my PC takes 3 minutes to turn on and then a few more minutes to load my background tasks (which btw the iPad doesn’t need). My iPad takes less than a minute to boot up and is ready as soon as the apple logo disappears.
Multitasking is not an issue. It’s coming this fall for anyone concerned.
The design is better than any laptop or desktop I’ve EVER used. It’s easy to hold, even though it does get a little heavy. The iPad doesn’t need to worry about overheating because of use like a laptop does.
And the BIGGEST point made yet would be one regarding your last statement about the name. It’s all over the media saying that there have been 2 million ipads sold within two months. Please tell me that since the name is sooooo bad and was a mistake that it has kept people from buying it. before you open a statement regarding quantity sold mac against pc, get some real facts. if you talking a single brand pc then your are right. it out sold a particular pc brand. but if you pertaining to pc, meaning several brands under pc, then you are wrong. fact, there are alot of manufacturers built programs that surpasses mac software products five times. and much much more on the hardware side. although pc have alot of competitors but they are still under the pc umbrella. and that is why the price of pc is going down. the mac doesn’t have alot of competitors. only one..the pc. linux softwares runs on pc. how about other os softwares that runs on mac excluding emulators? because of less or no competitors for mac they can jack up the price. somehow you don’t know the basic mechanism about supply and demand. buttom line is that you need to gather your facts before you make accurate statements. because people might think that you are an obvious moron and an embarassment of the 2 million ipad owners.

It’s a toy. This thing has created it’s own niche, it was never meant to replace your PC/laptop. It’s meant to be a fun thing to play with. It’s a hell of a lot easier to lug around than my laptop, and it doesn’t get hot on my lap when I use it extendedly in a mobile situation like my laptop.

I have a PC for gaming, a laptop for doing work if I don’t feel like sitting at my PC, an iPhone to dick off on while on the go(literally while walking around), and an iPad for reading/playing with whenever.
I was given 800bucks to spend for my bday.
I was at the apple store today to get an ipad and found out that ipad cannot run flash.
I didn’t get an ipad since I will jump on my 13″laptop anyway because of its limitations.

Anything that anyone buys at any given time will have limitations, benefits and problems. Does the fact that a Porsche does 200mph make it better than a Nissan Micra? It depends on what you need it to do, doesn’t it? If you need a car that does 200mph, then you will be disappointed with a Micra, and shouldn’t buy one. If you need a car to go to the shops in, then you can choose to buy the micra OR the porsche. Same principal with the iPad. Why moan because it doesn’t do what a laptop and a Blackberry can do? If you need those things, then buy a laptop and a blackberry!
I once bought a smart phone, that did LOADS of shit, but it crashed when you dialled a number. What I needed was a reliable phone, so I swapped it for one. In my opinion, Apples are simple machines that do a job pretty well, and they look great! Am I willing to pay extra for form over function(ality)? Well, yeah actually. I can buy trousers for 6 quid from primark, but i’d rather pay more for something that looks good.
Most PC owners I know are cheap-ass guys, who want something for as little as they can get away with paying. Thats totally cool, but I suspect that most of the anger directed at Apple is not about the features but about the price, and they drag a perceived lack of features into an argument that is really about what they feel is value for money.
Apple have been flogging under-performing un-upgradable over priced equipment for ever. The strategy – make it work well and make it look reeeeally cool. They are creating products that they feel their customers would like, they are grabbing market share. Microsoft, Gateway, Sony and any other company can create similar products and they will. This is not the first tablets on the market, this is not a new niche. Apple decided that they can make money and they are, maybe from the izombies but they are making Cash. I’m not mad at them. Apples are easy to use and for those who can’t handle a computer that’s customizable an Apple is great. I have an iPad which was given to me by a vendor. I use it strictly for music playing. I would have never purchased the unit. I might get an apple for my home to have a cute computer on my desk for the girls to say ‘awe how cute’
I haven’t used Mac in a long time and I’m very much opposed to Steve Jobs and his business model – complete control over content and user experience.
Having said that, I do own an iPhone. Its a unique device that does what it does very well. Will I buy an iPad? Yep. It’s better than a ereader, but not as big and as a full sized computer. I look at the iPad as a luxury item that doesn’t need to be a full fledged computer (I have a netbook for that).
I think that is the first thing anyone who buys an iPad should consider; It’s not really a business device or a computer, it’s a cool piece of tech luxury that does a lot of stuff fairly well with some trade offs.

If you have ever used an iMac/iBook – you would never downgrade yourself again and use a PC.
The troubles you get with PCs are far more than with iMacs – why? IMacs are being built to meet needs of consumers while PCs are built to follow the trend of a fashion line. However, I accecpt that not all are as receptive as myself and like to stick with the “good old days thinking”, and reject Apple products – go ahead. The better for me.

I manage a network of 4000 computers with 99 percent PCs with no anti-virus. We had one issue and it was resolved within minutes with a re-image of the computers. I would NEVER be able to manage a network of this size with MAC’s. Windows was built for business and real networks as MACs are good for those users who need something to surf the web or show pictures to their friends on a pretty machine. It works GREAT for that. ITunes I could live without… It kind of sucks b/c you buy the songs and you can’t do anything with them. You have to burn a CD and then you can own the tracks in a MP3 Format. Out of all the people I know who are PRO apple know jack about computers and how they work. Nor do they want too so this product is good for them.

The ipad is good for what it does, It just is not worth $500+ in my opinion. This is more or less a luxury item.Many may deem unneeded. That does not mean that many don’t want it also. That said, I have owned a 64GB WiFi iPad for about two weeks now…and I find it to be a marvelous device. It will do all I expect of it. Play my: movies, music, games, ebooks (Kindle)…check my email and surf the web. And it is much more usable on those 16 hour flights to New Delhi than a laptop.
Better with movies than my Sony PSP, AND, easier to watch than my iPod Touch. All in all, the device meets my expectations for a personal entertainment device. It is NOT a replacement for my main Computer or my real Laptop.

1. Every person to whom I have introduced Apple’s products has loved them. They can’t believe using a computer could be that simple and easy to use. Give Mac a try before you are judgmental and player hate on Apple fanboys.
2. The iPad is NOT a replacement computer or iPod Touch. Since it requires another host computer to sync to, it can hardly be considered a replacement for a current computer. If you enjoyed the experience given to you by the iPod Touch and you want a more luxurious device for home or school, then get an iPad. If you are ranting on this page about how bad the device is, you need SOLID evidence about how you yourself dislike the device. Not one of the 12 reasons are solid facts to why you shouldn’t get one. GO to a local best buy or Apple store and try one out before you make a decision on what you’ve heard.
I was skeptical and did not want one when they first came out. I was planning on buying a new iPod Touch because I still own the 1st gen touch. My friend down the road got an iPad for graduation so I went over and played around with his for a few hours. Let me say that was the decision changer right there. Just getting a personal experience with the device, not when it’s locked up in a store was definitely cool. I am considering buying one in place of a new iPod because it is a lot different up close than on a webpage. Browsing the internet was just amazing. You don’t need flash whatsoever to have a good experience on the iPad. Loading times were blazing fast, even on a 6Mbps line from att.
Im not saying get it or stay away from it, I’m just saying don’t bash it around when you’ve never even held one. Make your own opinions and don’t let others influence what you buy and don’t buy. Give it a chance and if you don’t like it, then don’t buy it. Easy as that. I hate trolls. SO MUCH.

for $400.00 netbook i can do anything i want. watch movies(flash or no flash) thru my netbook, do office work via local or remote. i can plug in a printer or any device no problem. see picture, read ebooks, and surf the web and all of this can be multitask. how about your $500 or more dollar ipad device. what can it do? i know is less that what i mention above. 3 million owners…that is a lot of ipad suckers!

Adobe Flash Player has NEVER been a web standard. There’s never been a W3C Standard method to embed flash into a web page. Every method fails a syntax-check because several tags used to embed flash have never actually been added to the DTD, but browsers support them anyway. got to say I’m very impressed with this thing, sure multitasking would be great but the native iPad apps can already multitask just like the iPhone, For exemple I like to listen to music and surf on the web at the same time and guess what? Yes you guessed it this thing does it and let’s say I get a facebook notification and I exit out of safari and I’m loading a web page I come back and whala my page has loaded it does the same thing with multiple pages open also. As for the battery life it’s amazing I have the 3G model and I take this thing everywhere and I use the 3G all day and play games and sometimes like to enjoy a netflixs movie with some friends and bye the end of the day my battery is at 40% I’ve never gotten this thing to say to me 20% battery left. Now I’m not saying you should go buy one of these things instead of a computer but don’t talk shit about if you’ve never used one. But there is one thing I will have to agree with you on why AT&T? Sure it may be faster but the signal sucks so bad that you would never even know it was faster, I can load web pages and stuff faster over my Verizon blackberry (using the data network not wifi the iPad kills in the wifi race)

weird. iPad was not made to connect to a TV. It’s a device made to be easy to travel with. So you use an iPad to travel and HD is one of the best characteristic of the iPad. You can watch movies with unbelievable HD graphics in a quite big screen. Imagine being in an airplane while watching HD movies in your iPad. When the movie finishes you can read a book. If you get bored you play one of the thousands of games available in the apple store. I only agree with you that it doesn’t have cameras, but I’m still satisfied with this magnificent and magical product. Whoever reads this, I’m telling you, you should really get an iPad.

BATTERY; 24 hours you say…the ipad doesn’t have a mechanical device that is why there is not much heat, it also runs faster, and it consumes less power. and most of all, there are not a lot of extra device ports. therefore the battery last that long. try to set your backlit to full and stay in on all the time, and put some extra plug in devices. then you’ll have a different opinion. if you don’t try this, then thats to bad. accessories for ipad is a bitch huh! WATCHING MOVIES/PICTURES; is it great to have a device to plug it in a 40 or more inche TV so everybody can watch. and most of all alot of people will appreciate the device more. but you don’t see this as a big advantage! READING; yes you can read books in iphone. it all depends on what file format. a lot of experienced computer users knows that devices either mac or pc breaks down easily because of cetain brand & model. there are a lot of certain brands & models function more than five years. and above all, it all depends upon “wear & tear”. don’t you agree? as for the living far away places in the woods, are you talking about shek’s resident?!
I received a free iPad. Great for email, taking it to the beach (movies) and course, playing games while listening to music (yes, it can do that) out of the box. I would not have purchased one since I have no real business use for it, but it certainly does what it says. Its helpful for some clients as I can can an order from the ipad and generate an invoice and mail it within minutes, but I can do that on a PC/laptop too.
Overall, free (woot), $500…Ill have to think about it.
Regarding battery life, there is an external battery extender you can buy if you feel the need to use the iPad for 10+ hours without a single charge. I can’t think of a single reason to exceed more than a few hours (specifically somewhere without being able to charge)
Finally, I do agree that not all your points are valid, some we pure BS and/or reaching for a excuse to build another reason.

few years back apple begins this statement “there’s an app for that.” now, “there’s an accessory for that.” mac is sucking your pockers like a black hole!
Okay the iPad is not designed to be a a flat Mac. It was designed to be a more simple and more portable way to compute. If the iPad were to run flash player it would bring the battery life to five hours I stead of ten. And they even posted on the apple website that flash is the main cause of any issues with macs. Also with the design apple intended to keep it simple, they wanted people to know how to work it right out of the box. The build and set up as an iPhone makes it so it more usable and so that you don’t have to re-adjust to a new build. Also about the front facing camera… The fact that the iPad adjust to any way you hold it makes it difficult to put a camera on. If the camera was at the top of the iPad and you tilted it to the landscape position the camera would be in an awkward spot. To keep the camera center focused apple would have needed to make 4 different cameras on each side of the iPad. They eliminated the problem by offering the camera connector if you truly need it. And about the multitasking issue, multitasking is just pointless if you look at it. You still have to push the center button find the app, click on it, and do what you need to do. How is that any different from just going to the home screen and using spotlight search to get to the app. Multitasking doesn’t make switching from app to app any quicker.
You are missing the point. Multitasking isn’t about opening up applications faster, it’s about doing more than one thing at once. Like listening to pandora radio while reading a PDF.
As for the camera, apple didn’t sell an aftermarket adaptor for each side did they? Nope. You are stuck with it on that one side. So they could have just shipped it out that way from the start.
Since this retarded thing (I’m using one right now) doesn’t have a built in USB, I had to purchase the 64gb version. Forget about form factor for a second, you can buy three net books for that price of 700 dollars. This is nothing more than a large iPod touch, and therefore a huge waste of money.
Apple, if you are listening, this thing is a joke. You say it’s for when you are too lazy to get a formal computer, but this message is taking 2-3 times longer to type. So going and getting my computer would actually be a time savings!!!

How do you explain to your friends “Hey Johnny, I can read a digital newspaper while pooping AND check my email afterwards”, or “Wow Harry, that’s a really cool way to watch low-quality youtube videos on your high-def television.” Seriously, I am not an Apple product hater. I have been an interactive developer for the past 15 years and have been very open to working on Apple and PC products. I jus tfind it entertaining to see such a reputable company such as Apple put products like these on the market just to keep a presence in the technology market. Slow down guys, it’s not a race. Make something meaningful without so MUCH attention to your logo and/or color scheme.
