Samsung Android I7500

We have been waiting for this for a while. Here comes the first Samsung cellphone powered by Android OS. This was long-rumored, and long-expected, however, Samsung has now released by mistake some information that they will unveil their first Android-based handset sometime in June this year. The new Samsung Android will feature a 528 MHz Qualcomm MSM7200A processor, 3.2-inch HVGA AMOLED screen with a 320 x 480 resolution, 5-megapixel camera with autofocus and power LED, and HSDPA 7.2Mbps / HSUPA 5.76Mbps.

Samsung Android cellphone will be called I7500 and we already fell in love with the big bright OLED touchscreen. The handset will sport a full web browser, Google Search, Google Maps, Gmail, Gtalk, Calendar, YouTube, GPS, and Android Market. What a long list of specs, but that’s Android and this is why everybody loves it. We are expecting other companies which are part of the Open Handset Alliance to announce Android-powered cellphones in the near future, but we will discuss that later in other posts.

The list of specs for the Samsung I7500 OLED Touchscreen Android-powered cellphone continues with Bluetooth 2.0, WiFi, USB 2.0, a 3.5 mm headphone-jack, an internal memory of 8GB which can be expanded up to 32GB thanks to a micro SD card slot, and a removable battery of 1,500 mAh. The handset will support most of audio files including MP3, AAC, AAC+, e-AAC+, WMA, and most of video files including MPEG4, H.263, H.264, WMV.

Samsung’s first Android powered cellphone will measure 115 x 56 x 11.9 mm, and you can see from the picture above that it features a design cooler than the first Android powered handset, the T-Mobile G1. For the moment, the price tag remains unknown just like the carriers and availability, but stay tuned as we will let you know if anything new surfaces. I think the Samsung I7500 OLED Touchscreen will be a success for the company and for Android, however, let’s see if HTC or other handset manufacturers announce a better Android powered cellphone than this one.
