Download Android 2.1 For Motorola Droid And HTC Droid Eris Now
The Motorola Droid customers are waiting for the releasing of Android 2.1 version, but earlier today a video was leaked presented Android 2.1 running on a Droid phone.
This video comes shortly after the info leaked about another video running Android 2.1 on a Verizon Droid Eris, but the main news is about the fact that the update is available for download on both smartphones. You should know that if you’ll try to install the update by yourself it might ruin your phone because you don’t have assisted service available and also when the official update will be released you’ll not be receiving it OTA and also the possibility to perform a downgrade to the 2.0.1 version of Android is very small , meaning that if you upgrade your Android there is no point of return. So, if you aren’t an expert you should abandon the idea of installing it on your Droid.
The version of Android 2.1 showed in the video seems to be a final version and you should expect the official OTA update to be released not so long into the future as they already said that you should expect it anytime soon.

I am purchasing a HTC Eris soon and wonder how you save contacts so that one of these OTA doesnt blow them away?
My flip phone does an autobackup to a website every time I update a contact.
thanks
It syncs contacts with your gmail account.
It’ll save your contacts to your gmail account.
Still no ‘official’ word from HTC or Verizon on the 2.1 update for Eris. The reps at Verizon kept eluding to sometime in April, but nothing has been confirmed. Read more here: http://eugeneorourke.com/blog/droid-eris-release-date-update/
My boyfriends Moto Droid just updated a few days ago to the new version, however my Droid Eris is still stuck on version 1.5. The YouTube app sucks, and hasn’t worked ever since I got my phone for Christmas.. I’ve been waiting for this update. When is it coming? I love the phone, but i’m ready to take it back if it’s never ever going to update.
