iPhone 3.0 better at taking pictures than 2.2.1?

It isn’t a secret the fact that the camera added to the iPhone isn’t 2008/2009 worthy and leaves much to be desired, especially in contrast with other iPhone features.
Taking into account the tests made by iphone.ru we might expect a better camera from 3.0 in comparison with 2.2.1. The final results of the test are deducted from a series of 30 photos which had a steady but sure outcome, 3.0 managed to take less blurrier photos of the cat you see below.

You can also looks at the soda machine photo and observe differences in quality. The new firmware seems to work better at exposing the bright light sources.

While the dark detail in the street photos can raise a few questions it is well known that an updated firmware can make a big difference (eg. SLR cameras ). In the case of the iPhone it can improve the handling of bright light by recognizing when overexposures/blow-outs are taking place.

Anyone who has 3.0 on their iPhone is welcomed to provide their proof or counter-proof to this whole thing.
