Asus Eee PC 900A 8.9″ Intel Atom 1.6Ghz Netbook Review
I told you this many times, but I still have to tell you again: there is a netbook-mania out there! Everybody wants a netbook, and why wouldn’t we? These mini-notebooks are small, cheap, and useful which means that a device like this is everything a man can ask. Here is the Asus Eee PC 900A 8.9″ Intel Atom 1.6Ghz Netbook. This netbook is great just like all Asus and Intel Atom chips combos therefore you shouldn’t worry about its quality. Well, the processor is not everything on a computer therefore let’s move on to its specs.

The Asus Eee PC 900A netbook features a 8.9-inch display with a resolution of 1024 x 600 which is enough to view an A4 without having to scroll right or left. The IntelĀ N270 Atom-based 8.9-inch netbook is powered by Linux OS, 1GB of DDR2, 4GB of SSD storage, an Intel UMA display card, and a Li-ion battery which can last up to 4 hours with one charge.

The Asus Eee PC 900A 8.9″ Intel Atom 1.6Ghz Netbook measures 22.5 x 17.0 x 2c~3.38 cm, and it weighs less than 2.2 pounds therefore like all notebooks it is very portable. Among the features of the Asus 8.9″ Intel Atom 1.6Ghz netbook you can find built-in 802.11b/g WLAN, Ethernet RJ45 10/100 Mbps Wired-LAN, 3 x USB ports, microphone jack, earphone jack, VGA-out port, stereo speakers, built-in microphone, two-button touchpad pointing device, and a SD/ MMC (SDHC) reader.

In conclusion I must say that the Asus Eee PC 900A Netbook comes packed with features, and a cool design. It is not expensive, but it’s not very cheap either. You should find it at a price of $300 with shipping included, but that depends on retailer.

I got my 900A in January at Best Buy for $199. The Xandros distribution that came with it is crap. Contains several programs that are targeted to 6-year-olds, it’s difficult to remove or add software (except for a few chosen things) and any upgrade or change saves the previous versions, so one good upgrade completely fills up the 4gb SSD drive.
However, I am running Fedora and Ubuntu, each from its own 8GB SD card and using the 4GB SSD for storage. And I LOVE it. Everything works and the software options are good. My first time playing around with any Linux, and I am very happy with both Fedora and Ubuntu. Ubuntu feels faster than Fedora. If you have a 900A, I suggest trying these Linux distros and ditching the Xandros that came with it.
