A new version of Ubuntu, the 9.10 Karmic Koala, has just been announced and promises to come with a lot of great changes, including a cool colored desktop theme. But Ubuntu fans have a lot to wait until it’s release, in October. Fortunately, until then, Ubuntu will release the 9.04 Jaunty Jackalope version in April.

Karmic Koala will probably be beloved mostly by netbook users, because it will come optimized for them and will feature profiles for small displays. There aren’t many exact specifications, but it may also have an advantage in cloud computing, a better startup screen, faster boot times and much more. We should find more details at the Ubuntu Developer Summit in May.
