Rumor: Apple Working On A $500-$700 Tablet For The Summer Of 2010
Apple is definitely working on a new device as analyst Gene Munster points out. He says that this is not a netbook because Apple will not develop a device which deliver weak user experience, which are cheap, and crappy. If a new iPhone, iPod, and MacBooks are also out of the question (because we know that they are working on these), then what’s that revolutionary device that Apple is planning for the summer of 2010?

According to Gene Munster, it’s that rumored media pad except for that fact that it’s not a media pad – it’s a tablet PC. Apple’s upcoming product will be a combination between iPhone and netbook, but it will be far more complex and useful than both. Its key feature will be the OS which is going to be a “hybrid” between Mac OS X and iPhone OS. This hybrid OS is also the main reason why the device has been delayed as Apple will not release something that is buggy and insecure. The big thing is that it will feature multitouch screen, which will be better than what Microsoft Windows 7-based computers have to offer.
Munster says that Apple is concentrating on mobile devices, but he’s sure that the Apple tablet PC won’t be out until CY10. I don’t know why everybody calls it a revolutionary device if it’s going to be a tablet PC, but maybe it won’t be a tablet. But what is it? Who knows? A report says that the multitouch screen of Apple’s tablet will probably be range between 7″ to 10″, and it will cost between $500 to $700.
We already know that Apple will not let us see some of their plans so we can only guess on what they are working. It’s not a netbook, it’s a tablet. How good that tablet can be? We’ll find out in about one year.
