Last year Twitter was almost unknown. Nobody knew about it, only Internet users related to social media and networking websites had a clue what is this thing. Well, many have changed since last summer and it seems like everybody is on Twitter, everybody tweets, even the Government tweets, and there are many other governmental subsidies which use Twitter. Well, here is another big announcement made on Twitter: “the GPS will not do down.”

This was what Colonel Dave Buckman tweeted on the official US Air Force Twitter account. Colonel Buckman wanted to reassure people that the GPS satellites are working normal, and they will continue to work for a long time. He said that the issue is under control, and the only issues are the deadlines and the extra costs that are necessary to deploy the next-gen satellites.

Colonel Buckman said that there are 24 satellites which are working great and if they fail there are others to step in and save the day, however, he admitted that those are old and there is a “small rist” that they will not perform by the standards that people are used today. The USAF official said that they will launch a satellite in August, and another one sometime next year.

Well, if it were to believe Colonel Dave Buckman’s words everything is just fine and people should stop panic. It’s true that some of the satellites might fail, but this doesn’t mean that we will remain without GPS services. We hope that the USAF will find enough funds to deploy the next-gen satellites in order to provide the best GPS services that will aid us to find our exact destination.
