Scientology members no longer have access to Wikipedia as the website has banned the so-called Church of Scientology to edit the content of the site. Wikipedia, the biggest online encyclopedia has blocked all the IPs which were making changes to Scientology pages from the site in order to avoid propaganda and “sock puppet” attacks. This is the first time Wikipedia decides to take drastic measures against one organization, but nothing is new as the site’s administrators has been banning individual Scientology users for a long time.

“All IP addresses owned or operated by the Church of Scientology and its associates, broadly interpreted, are to be blocked. Individual editors may request IP block exemption if they wish to contribute from the blocked IP addresses,” said Wikipedia.

Although it promotes an interesting idea, Scientology is very controversial due to its actions which makes other people hate them rather than appreciate their ideas. The Church of Scientology has had a very time on the Internet, but the problems started when its members started to remove online bad critics of the organization. They repeatedly called for questionable techniques and campaigns to remove everything bad that was said about them.

Everything went bad for the Church of Scientology when its members tried to remove the recruitment video of Tom Cruise. It was all over the news, but it was impossible to remove all the videos as hackers didn’t like the idea and they responded to scientologists with an online attack. Hackers and Internet activists embarrassed scientologists by hacking their website and promoting anti-Scientology all around the world wide web.

The Internet world is big and its members (you, me, us, them, everybody) are very united and we always try to promote freedom, and we don’t appreciate censorship and fanatics. You don’t have to yell, brag, and be violent to promote an idea, and scientologists’ ideas are all about peace and getting along with each other, but they are doing it the wrong way.

  • Imagine. An organized crime syndicate doesn’t like it when they’re banned from trying to erase the truth about their racketeering, fraud, extortion, blackmail, and domestic terrorism. Golly, these Scientology criminals probably share a hatred of the truth with their Gambino Mafia colleagues.
