Sims 3 downloaded over 180,000 times from torrents before official release
Spore was considered the most pirated game of 2008, but now it seems like Sims 3 is going to grab the #1 spot in the piracy top. The Sims 3 is going to be released on June 5th, but it has been downloaded over 180,000 times already from torrents, ilegally.
It took only 3 days for over 180,000 people to download the Sims 3 illegally and that was between May 18 and May 21, more than 2 weeks earlies than its official release. If Electronic Arts would have sold that 180,000 games, their earnings would probably cross the $9 million mark.
Electronic Arts has reported that the pirated game is a pre-final build and it only has half of the world, also being very buggy. We don’t know if it’s true or they only reported this to convince people to buy the original version, but they might be true.

It sucks that they lost so much money, but at the same time i bet they can make some of it up by releasing expansion packs. Which they always do. The only thing is, if this game has college and seasons and pets they wont be making an EP for those and therefore wont be making some of the best selling EPs.
Even though it’s free to get on torrent sites, people should buy this game. Electronic Arts has put so much into making it, they should be rewarded. Even though I could do the same thing as those other pirates, I will buy the game just to thank Electronic Arts for all they’ve done.
If everyone downloaded the pirated version how could Electronic Arts stay in business? Buying their games is the only way they can make more of them.
even if they do release the expansions for it they wont make as much money because even the expansions would be pirated.
Well, if they want people to buy their game, then perhaps they should stop surprising their customers with craptastic DRM software that fucks up their computer. Also, they could stop charging so much.
SHIT GAME :s
