Apple WWDC 2009: iPhone OS 3.0 Coming On June 17

At the WWDC 2009 Apple unveiled the new iPhone 3GS and the Snow Leopard upgrade among many others, but we should mention the iPhone OS 3.0. The software on the next-gen iPhone, current iPhone, old iPhone, and iPod touch should also receive a lot of attention and praise. We could easily that this is the way an OS should look, and this is what iPhone/iPod owners should have received in first place.

The iPhone OS 3.0 features MMS which will go live for 29 carriers at launch time, while MMS for AT&T will be release later this summer. The tethering feature will go live for 22 carriers at launch, while for AT&T will be available later this summer. The newly-released Safari mobile browser is capable of handling JavaScript at least three time faster than before.

The new iPhone OS 3.0 also supports HTML 5, auto-fill, HTTP streaming audio and video, and 30 languages like Arabic, Greek, Hebrew, Korean, and Thai. Among other stuff that wasn’t announced, we noticed a feature called Find My iPhone for MobileMe subscribers and this will shows a user where is his iPhone if he’d lost it. Also, if your iPhone was stolen then you can send a remote command which will wipe everything on the smartphone which means that your data will be safe (although lost).

Among other cool stuff there is an EKG app which can be used via 3G to zoom someone’s cardiac rate. We will present you other apps soon, but until then remember that the iPhone OS 3.0 will be released on June 17th, and it will be free for all iPhone models while iPod touch users will have to pay $9.95.
