The Palm Pre is full of surprises as yesterday we’ve seen the its ROM, and now it seems like you can use the Konami Code to switch the smartphone to Dev mode. After the webOS root image was leaked, the Developer Mode Enabler was also discovered and anybody with a Palm Pre can run this hidden app by typing “upupdowndownleftrightleftrightbastart” aka the Konami Code.

This is a very cool decision from Palm as the Konami Code is famous all over the Internet. Well, the webOS root image will allow code fanatics to take a look at the mobile platform’s… code. So if you use the Konami Code and you enter in Dev Mode then you will be able to connect the Pre to another machine which runs the Palm Mojo SDK and you will be able to create your own apps for the smartphone.
This might be the first webOS hack, and it couldn’t have been better than this: the Konami Code. Well, if you bought a Palm Pre then why wouldn’t you mess around with it? You can read more about it here, and let us know how was your experience with the smartphone’s Dev Mode.
