It was rumored for quite a while now, however, it didn’t make an official appearance until now: ladies and gentlemen here is the Samsung i8000 aka Omnia2. The second-gen Samsung Omnia features a 3.7-inch AMOLED WVGA TFT touchscreen, 150MB of internal memory, a fast Qualcomm processor, a 8.1MP camera with dual LED-flash, and Windows Mobile 6.1 which can be upgraded to WinMo 6.5 when it becomes available.

The Samsung Omnia2 also features Bluetooth, WiFi, GPS, 3G, DivX/XViD support and 30fps video recording capabilities. The Samsung i8000 Omnia2 will be based on a remade TouchWiz user interface and a restyled menu. You can see in the video below the new Windows Mobile-based UI which is codenamed as the Samsung Cubic Project. At the end of the video you can notice something like “Please tell Microsoft about this problem” which probably means that WinMo crashed. Nothing new here… (only the fact that this guy appears to have serious troubles in handling the touchscreen).

Well, the Samsung Unpacked conference will open its doors on June 15 and the company promised us one new phone. Could it be Samsung i8000 Omnia2? Or another leaked smartphone called Samsung S8000? We don’t know that, but we do know that as of today, June 10, in London, Singapore, and Dubai, Samsung is starting a weird unique competition which consists of unpacking a somewhat magical box with the cellphone in it. This should be interesting, and we will hear more about it soon!
