Apple Delayed iPhone OS 3.0 Software Update Until June 18
Apple has decided to make a last minute change to the iPhone OS 3.0 release date and now the software will be released on June 18 due to unknown reasons. Nobody knows yet why Apple delayed the iPhone OS 3.0 Software Update, but it better be a good damn reason. iPhone users have been waiting for this and a delay is not good, not good at all. If the iPhone OS 3.0 is ready, why wasn’t it released? We should stop complaining as we know that Apple will not make it available sooner, but hopefully they will not delay it until the launch of the iPhone 3G S.
The iPhone OS 3.0 Software Update consists of a lot of additions and new features like Cut, Copy/Paste, landscape keyboard, MMS, spotlight search, voice memos, improved calendar, improved Safari, tethering, Stereo Bluetooth, sync notes, shake to shuffle, and new languages.
The iPhone 3G S will be launched on June 19 and it will be powered by iPhone OS 3.0. The Apple smartphone is going to AT&T and sadly MMS and tethering will not be available at launch as the carrier has to make some changes and come up with a good Internet tethering plan.

look at the address…it is the singapore site….the us site still has the 17th….sorry to burst your bubble
this is totally wrong, there was another post on a tech site and they said the same thing then went back and edited it because it was incorrect apparently that is the release for singapore and the US update is still the 17th
The link being passed around for the update coming out the 18th is a fake. Go directly to apple.com and the posted date is still the 17th.
Apple.com is still showing a release date of June 17, you may be getting this information incorrectly by looking at an international release date, because I know that some other countries outside the US have a release date of June 18. Wouldn’t you think that Apple would change it on the website?
Its not delayed! Apple has changed the realease date for Australia and Asia because they have a different time zone so when it is released in America it will be the 18th. A lot of people think it is delayed but they only think that because they are looking at apple’s Sngapore site.
i think the writer should check what time zone the apple website they are referring to is in. Most apple release times are in PDT, so adjust your eagerness to suit your particular countries time zone.

18th Singapore can still be the 17th US.
It has been confirmed that the singaporte apple site says 18th, and the US and european one says 17th.
Now figure it would be at least 6PM CET for the update to arrive, as at that time it’s 0AM on june 18th in Singapore. Now we can at least figure out at what time to expect the update!

The reason that Singapore, Asia, and Australia get their update on the 18th is because their time zone is a day ahead of ours!
The UK site now says ‘available june 18th’

Apple’s websites for India and countries in time zones to the west of India say 17 June. Apple’s website for Thailand and countries in time zones to the east of Thailand say 18 June. This would suggest that the release will be some time between 10AM and 11:30AM PDT on 17 June o (of more interest to me in Sydney, Australia between 3AM and and 4:30AM on 18 June Australian Eastern Standard Time).
Can people please start thinking?!!

In India, it’s 2:45 pm
In Singapore, it’s 5:15 pm
So somewhere between midnight in Singapore and Midnight in India, the update will be released.
That leaves us at somewhere between 6 PM and 8:30 PM European time, for some people that don’t know: 5PM – 7:30 PM GMT..
Now please calculate your local time and expect the update to be ready somewhere between these hours!

Sad,sad,sad! This update will do nothing to improve the 3g iphone. ATT has done a great job along with Apple to dupe the consumer. I have yet to get the performance that these companies have promised from their phone. i live in the midwest (Marshall,Wi) just a few miles east of Madison, and my phone works great 10% of the day. Surfing the net is equivalent to corresponding with websites via carrier pigeons. dropped calls are frequent,etc,etc. I have contacted ATT regarding this BS and they pawned me off to Apple. Apple gave me a run around and said all is fine with my phone, blah ,blah. I no im not alone with these problems, anyone else have similar issues? Maybe we can petition ATT to give us the new upgraded phone free of charge to see if remedies the issues, and if it does great! If it doesn’t we are screwed and must deal with it. Update: I just received an email and ATT is going to give me the new phone even though I am six months into a 2 year contract, thats fair to me. I bet this new phone will deliver what they promised from the get go when they advertised their speeds,etc. It’s obvious that ATT and Apple jumped the gone with the 3g, it just wasn’t able to live up to the hype that was put upon it. Bottom line it was an inadequate device for the technology it was designed to utilize. My fingers are crossed that the new phone will live up to its expectations! Power to the people! Demand a new phone such as I did, and you may receive one such as I, doesn’t hurt to try now does it?

Seems apple have caused a lot of confusion by not stating a time.
If they put the date as the 17th I expect it to be available at any point that day not some point that day

Seems the writer is not all that clued up … whats with everyones attitute .. the update is free right … so what if its delayed … anyway my i tunes tells me my software is current 2.2.1 and its 11h50 on the 17th so the UK isnt able to d-load yet

Calm down kids…it’s meridian time. If they wanted to make it clear they should have put it in Julian. Apple must be reminded that the reason microsoft is the “better” company is because Apple is far too expensive and they are always late. I would crack a joke but I feel americans won’t understand my humour.
I have just synced my iphone with my computer and I clicked check for update and it says that 2.2.1 is the current software, where do I go to download 3.0, I am confused. Is 3.0 out today or isn’t it.

this is completly pissing me off i live in Texas and the apple site still says that they are down loading on the 17th but when i plug my iphone into itunes it said the download will be avqaible on the 21st????????? how could they delay it for so long when they have been avertising the release date of it for weeks now. it is like telling iphone 3G s owners that their release date has been moved back a week. im reall pissed of.

Last I heard the update was scheduled for 1pm US EST time, so no clue what that equates to everywhere else. Look it up for yourselves.
i just got a text from my network saying that it will be available tonight (Dublin) on itunes. so it must be lunch time in the US.. not sure though…
well it is almost mid-day June 17th and there is no iPhone 3.0 software available either on itunes or the apple website (even though it still says June 17th)…..soooo maybe this article is correct and apple just hasn’t changed the date to the 18th on their website? I hope not since I have been waiting for 3.0 as well.
It is now 16:26 GMT on 17 June 2009 and OS 3.0 is still not available. If Apple are waiting for the US to wake up then the servers will become overloaded as the rest of the world tries to catch up. The USA is NOT the centre of the universe (even if they think they are).

wooooo hooooo done it now
only 1 hour of error messages before it evetually worked, still got there in the end.
well if it’s not delayed, why is it still not available in asian then?
