Yesterday we reported that Microsoft will launch Security Essentials beta today, while a few hours ago we announced that the free antivirus can be downloaded only by 75,000 people on the Microsoft Connect website. However, Microsoft has officially released the Security Essentials website where they posted more information about the free antivirus. Although security is not exactly the strength point of Microsoft, they might get it right this time with the codenamed Morro.

We’ll tell you right from the start: if you have a pirated copy of Microsoft XP or Vista then you Security Essentials will not work for you. Like said in many other posts, we’re not in favor of piracy although we are not fans of the big companies which “throw” only expensive stuff at us. Microsoft Security Essentials website is now live and you can check it out here.
