More and more iPhone 3GS users are reporting discoloration problems on the smartphone’s back case. This issue was noticed only on white models, and now Apple has filed a patent that will address this issue. The patent will fix both internal and external problems with the white iPhone 3GS, but Apple still goes with non-removable batteries. According to some reports, the iPhone discoloration is caused by overheating battery’s cells.

Non-removable batteries are used in unibody MacBooks and in iPhones, and they can cause serious damages to the power source meaning that Apple has to replace every battery on their own. For the moment we don’t really know why the Cupertino-based company loves non-user-replaceable batteries so much, and I don’t think we will ever find out. The new iPhone 3GS has serious problems if you directly expose it to the sunlight or if you leave it in the car in a hot day.

The overheating issue will be solved thanks to this new patent which should be approved sometime next week. If you read the patent then you will noticed that Apple will develop a battery force sensor which can detect a battery’s issues. The battery force sensor will check for problems, and it will let you know if you need to leave the battery to cool down before using the smartphone again.

Well, we waiting for something official as Apple has declined to comment, and the company didn’t entirely accept the iPhone 3GS discoloration and overheating issues.
