Microsoft Might Offer Family Pack For Windows 7 Home Premium
The Windows 7 has been unveiled, as well as the official release date: October 22. Although the End User License Agreement is not official yet, the Release Candidate and its EULA offers a glimpse of what the final product will look like. This means that if we want to know almost everything about the final EULA then we have to look at the RC version of the EULA. Here something very interesting that blogger Kristian Kenney found in the Windows 7 Home Premium EULA:
“2. INSTALLATION AND USE RIGHTS.
a. One Copy per Computer. Except as allowed in Section 2 (b) below, you may install one copy of the software on one computer. That computer is the “licensed computer.”
b. Family Pack. If you are a “Qualified Family Pack User”, you may install one copy of the software marked as “Family Pack” on three computers in your household for use by people who reside there. Those computers are the “licensed computers” and are subject to these license terms. If you do not know whether you are a Qualified Family Pack User, visit go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?Linkid=141399 or contact the Microsoft affiliate serving your country.”
If you didn’t understand it already, then this means that Microsoft will offer a “family pack” licensing for up to 3 computers in your home. Please note that this is not the final version of the EULA which means that it can change until the official Windows 7 release.
After seeing this and other reports, Microsoft said that the company has nothing to announce at the moment.
