The next generation iPod touch should be released sometime in September, sources say. Can we believe them? Sure we can. It’s about time Apple releases a new iPod touch, however, we should think of what the gadget will feature. How about a camera with video recording capabilities? If it were to trust rumors then you would be right as new details of the next-gen iPod touch have emerged.
According to Michael Arrington, Apple has placed a massive order for camera modules similar to the ones that can be found in the iPhone 3GS. The TechCrunch enthusiast says that these are $10 cameras, and judging by the size of the order, Apple will place them into the next-gen iPods touch.
The reports come from Asia and although it doesn’t say much, it’s clear that Apple wants to bring better cameras into their devices. This is a logical thing and we don’t understand what took Apple so long. The iPod touch (as well as the iPhone) is a great device with lots of features, however, it lacks a camera. Why wouldn’t Apple raise the bar once more and compete against companies who only develop cameras?
Apple’s next-gen iPod touch shouldn’t be a portable media player with a camera – it should be a camera with media player capabilities. I’m sure this will impress a lot of customers looking for a compact camera that does a lot more besides taking photos and videos. In order to fuel up the rumors even more, DealExtreme has unveiled two shots of what it should be the next-gen iPod touch with a camera.

Turns out the cameras were for the ipod nano. What a disappointment.
